Drier vegetation means any new ignition can catch and spread rapidly. The RMWB is urging outdoor enthusiasts and residents to remain vigilant while in the forest.
Wood Buffalo RCMP are looking for two men wanted in armed home invasion
Leighton Haineault (left) and Jeremy Lacorde (right). (RCMP) RCMP have issued arrest warrants for two men following an early morning home invasion in Gregoire Lake Reserve on Thursday. At 2:08 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion. Two men entered a home, assaulted someone and pointed a firearm at them, demanding the victim’s phone and money, according to RCMP. The two men fled the area in a black side-by-side (UTV).
Annual Whyte Avenue Art Walk Returns to Edmonton
The 31st annual Whyte Avenue Art Walk is taking place in Edmonton from July 10-12. Each day, it will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The walk takes place through the streets of Old Strathcona and features over 480 artists displaying artwork of everything you can imagine. Jill Roszell, Producer for the Whyte Avenue Art Walk, tells CFWE that this will be one of the largest art walks they have done.

The facility, which will be located in Sturgeon County, is backed by a substantial $13 billion commitment and will become the company’s 33rd data centre worldwide.
EPS Investigating Collision in North Edmonton after fatality result
At approximately 5:55 p.m. on June 24, 2026, Northwest Branch Patrol officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the Rosslyn area. It was reported to police that a 2024 Kia Seltos was travelling north on 97 Street, and the driver attempted to make a left turn onto 132 Avenue westbound when it collided with a 2011 Kia Optima that was travelling southbound on 97 Street.

Fort McKay First Nation alerts residents after Suncor reports Mildred Lake fire
Suncor says it has informed Fort McKay First Nation of a fire at the company’s Mildred Lake facility, prompting the First Nation to alert residents through social media. In a community notification Monday morning, Suncor said the fire began overnight on the Mildred Lake sulphur block. Syncrude’s Emergency Response team is actively managing the incident and crews are continuing efforts to extinguish the remaining fire. Suncor said all site personnel have been accounted for and are safe.
