Hi everyone — long time no write! I recorded this update instead of typing it, and I've got a lot to share about what's coming this fall and winter. Here's the quick rundown, with space for registration links that I’ll add as they go live. Join me for Writers’ Haven Huddles — every week, just for paid subscribers — beginning in September. That’s exactly why I created the Summer Journaling Series — and if you’re in the Chicago area this summer, I’d love to see you there. Starting July 7, we’ll meet every Tuesday over lunch at Northwestern University’s Norris Center in Evanston for six weeks.

I just finished submitting two proposals for AWP 2027 in Chicago, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for BOTH! The conference is March 17-20 and NOT TO BE MISSED. Hi, everyone. It’s my honor to introduce you to my sister, Elizabeth. With my new sister in New York City, May 2025 In 2022, she appeared on my 23andMe family tree as a “likely half-sister.” I was 54. She was 55. We share the same biological father. All my life, I’d believed I was the eldest daughter. It turns out she’s older than me by 18 months. We’re two daughters of the same man, but born to different mothers. Four years before I discovered Elizabeth, I lost my younger sister suddenly.
