On March 25, 2025, Applegate announced its transition of all its beef hot dogs to 100% certified regenerative beef, achieving this ambitious goal nine months ahead of schedule. This significant step forward is not just about a product; it’s about a profound shift in how food can be produced to nurture animals, people, and the planet.

Why take part? CIWF UK already pulled off a momentous achievement this year, with Great Britain legally banning live exports for fattening or slaughter in May 2024 after decades of relentless campaigning against the practice. It’s thanks to your support that this was able to happen. However, the fight is far from over.

In 2020, we launched a campaign calling on the five biggest global certification schemes for aquatic animals to do more to protect the fish they certify. Over 130,000 of you took 450,000 actions to demand better welfare standards for fish. The US-based Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), administered by Global Seafood Alliance, certify half a BILLION fish each year under their label.

While keeping house is as important and admirable a job as any other (and one often done in tandem with other jobs), women have fought for the ability to decide what impact they will make on the world.

“[W]e’re not farming anything for meat” the owner of Kanaloa Octopus Farm in Hawai’i told reporters in reaction to Compassion in World Farming’s 2021 report "Octopus Factory Farming – a recipe for disaster." Well, that’s certainly true now. The only octopus farm in the US has been ordered to discontinue its activities by state authorities, 15 months after Compassion in World Farming called out the facility for engaging in cruel and unsustainable aquaculture practices.

Skipping the chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday? You’re not alone. More than 10 million Americans will skip animal-based chicken wings and instead consume over 160 million plant-based chicken wings, according to estimates by Compassion in World Farming. Chicken wings were once considered a waste product, only usable for broth or stock.

By Ben Williamson In recent weeks, we’ve seen a flurry of similar pro-industrial animal agriculture bills sweeping across state legislatures. At the start of the year, the Magnolia state introduced House Bill 362, the “Mississippi Food Freedom Bill,” which, if passed, would prohibit localities from adopting ordinances that regulate farmed animal husbandry practices.
