The feds are spending nearly $871,262 for a group to implement a new model that would help multiple agencies coordinate their responses to intimate partner violence to protect more victims, according to a news release from the federal government. Kylee Nun, with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia, says it is fantastic.
Power outage impacting several streets in Lunenburg
Power has been restored in New Town and First Peninsula, but a number of areas remain without service as crews continue restoration efforts. The areas still affected include: Adams St., Centennial Ave., Duff St., Harbour View Dr., Hebb St., Hirtle Rd., James Rd., Knock Ln., Morash Ln., Rudolf Dr., Victoria Rd., and Wolff Ave. Because some residents are still without heat, the Town has opened a Warming Centre at the Firehall on Medway Street, which will remain open until power is fully restored.

No safety violations after woman found dead in Walmart oven, says labour department
More than a year after a woman died in a Halifax Walmart, the labour department has found no safety violations in the case. It was Oct. 19, 2024, when the remains of 19-year-old Gursimran Kaur were found by her mother inside the walk-in bakery oven. The store was closed for months and eventually, the oven was removed while the store was renovated. Halifax police later determined the case was not suspicious.
