By Henry Allen Neon Ghosthouse are one of Ottawa’s hottest young bands and a CKDJ staple. October was a great month for fans of the alt-rock quintet as the band released their long-anticipated EP “The Big Words That Make Us Feel Small” on October 11th. The next night, the band played a triumphant show at House of TARG to celebrate the new record. Fans, friends, and fellow musicians filled the mosh pit and enjoyed an incredible night of rock and roll.

Whether out of fear, laziness, or lack of knowledge, everyone has been guilty of neglecting to take action on this serious issue at one point or another. My name is Quinn O’Malley. I’m studying Radio Broadcasting at Algonquin College, and I am just as guilty as anyone else for neglecting Climate Change. Why?

By Dale Meikle As an Algonquin Student and a host on CKDJ living off campus, I heavily rely on my car as my means of transportation to and from school; however because of that I have to pay daily for parking. Parking at Algonquin College varies from lot to lot but I am no stranger to parking in lot 8. For a little backstory here; I do not have a parking pass as they run a little bit out of my budget which I now know is the root of my parking tickets.

I have been looking into many bands around the city and listening to their music. I’ve learned that Ottawa has a very underrated punk and alt rock scene brewing.

While at CKDJ there is always an effort to bring hype through local talent, home hockey games, and even speaking up about events in the city, there is still something missing when it comes to continuous excitement. Many have said that Ottawa is simply a government town or that it just doesn’t have much going for it. But, what if that was about to change?

The Ottawa originated band specializes in alternative and indie rock music and signed to “Birdie Records” to release their first EP on March 30th, 2017. They also signed to a record company in Australia, “ Penultimate Records”. The band “got an email from a random guy in Australia”, who happened to be a fan of their work.
