Debunking the myth of the "perfect summer"
I grew up having the most perfect summers: my parents sent my brother and I to a sleep away camp in Ohio for two weeks where we ate sloppy joes, played capture the flag and catapulted into a lake via a giant inflatable blob. When we returned home from there, they shipped us off to Spain to spend the remainder of our summer with cousins and grandparents at the beach and pool.
Summer Outfit Formulas
Come high summer, with my kids off school for 11 weeks and the heat and humidity of Spain, and the decision paralysis that comes from both… I’m reaching for a rotation of the same pieces from my closet. This summer I’ve had some combination of these outfits on repeat and they can be easily styled in various ways over and over again using items you already have in your wardrobe. Here are five outfits that I have pinned that I would love to recreate this summer. What I like about this outfit is the mix of formal and casual pieces. The fringe top and feather trimmed bag could look totally different if they weren't paired with simple cropped trousers and thong sandals.
How to Dress Up Without Losing Your Style
We’ve all been there, we receive an invite to a wedding or special occasion and we immediately think about what we’re going to wear, and it’s on these occasions that we feel the need to choose something that goes against our normal style in order to feel “formal” or “dressy”. The thing is, you can still be yourself and maintain your personal style while also feeling appropriately dressed for the occasion.
