Kieran Browne Ballyhickey, Quin, Co. Clare. Kieran passed away peacefully at Milford Care Centre, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his brother John. Sadly missed by his sons Dylan and Darragh and their mother Deirdre, parents Frank and Mary, brothers Francis and Michael, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and many friends. May He Rest in Peace Reposing at St. Marys Church Quin, on Monday (10th August) from 4.30 pm until 7.30 pm.

Ryanair has submitted plans for a new hangar at Shannon Airport. It comes just weeks after the airline announced a multi-million euro investment in the facility. Wonderlight Ltd, with an address at Ryanair Dublin Office Airside Business Park, Swords Co.Dublin, has submitted the application seeking the construction of an MRO facility and staff accomodation at Lindbergh Avenue and Earhart Avenue at the Clare base.

Clare’s closest University towns have ranked as some of the most expensive in the country for students. A new report from switcher.ie found rent in Limerick and Galway were the fifth and sixth highest in the country respectively. Both cities saw a 5% increase in the annual costs of everyday expenses, with students living in Limerick paying €16,520 a year, while those in Galway faced annual costs of €16,064.

There are three more games this afternoon in the second round of the TUS Clare Senior hurling championship. The first of them gets underway at 1pm, with Ballyea’s season on the line as they take on Clonlara in Cratloe. The number of electric vehicles purchased in Clare has more than doubled since last year. The latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show 658 new electric cars have been purchased in the county so far this year. This represents an increase of 112% from the figure of 310 seen at the same in 2025. SIMI Director General, Brian Cooke, says fully electric cars are now the most popular vehicles on the market. Over 3,500 patients left University Hospital Limerick before receiving treatment in the first six months of 2026. New HSE figures show 50,313 total patients presented at the region’s main hospital between January and June of this year. The figured released to Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane through a Parliamentary Question show 3,617 patients left the Dooradoyle facility before being admitted.

A new veterinary centre has opened in Ennis to help assist animal welfare charities by offering services for a reduced cost. The new clinic attached to Precious Pets in the county town, also aims to assist pensioners or those on social welfare who are struggling with the cost of caring for their pet. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 11am to 2pm and is ran by Liam Burke of Ballyhugh vets. County Dog Warden, Frankie Coote, says the clinic is providing a valuable service.

There are five games down for decision this afternoon in the TUS Clare senior hurling championship. Quarter final places could be decided while some teams could see their title dreams fade for another year. The first of the five games get underway in Dr Daly Park in Tulla at 1pm, where Sixmilebridge and Newmarket are both battling to keep their hopes of progression in the championship alive, following both having opening day defeats.
