The Clermont Northeastern Rockets are determined to win a National Division title for the first time in more than a decade. The Rockets took another step toward that goal Sept. 1 with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-17 victory over two-time divisional champion East Clinton. Freshman Margaret Kaufman powered the Rockets’ (3-0, 6-4) offense with 11 kills, followed by Alexi Walters and Ella Carlier with seven kills each.

MOUNT ORAB Macee Steele is a fan favorite in Goshen. The Warrior senior and three-sport athlete has reached several milestones, and a student section full of kids came out to Goshen’s road game against Western Brown to cheer her on at her next milestone. Steele broke the Goshen volleyball career school record in assists in the second set of the Sept. 3 showdown between two unbeaten teams in American Division play, topping former Warrior setter and the team’s current assistant coach Melaine Jenkins.

Two Clermont County teams at each end of their respective divisions in the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference will face off as non-divisional play resumes. Unbeaten Goshen travels to winless Bethel-Tate, looking to keep its best start to a season since 2017 going. The Warriors have the highest-scoring offense in the SBAAC at 41 points per game and are allowing a conference-best 6.3 points per game.

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Goshen senior volleyball setter Macee Steele Steele set the school record in assists in the Warriors’ four-set win over Western Brown on Sept. 3. Steele reached 1,662 assists, topping previous record holder and Goshen assistant coach Melanie Jenkins’ 1,661 assists. “Being able to be a part of this program is so fun. I love all the girls, the coaches and everything is just amazing,” Steele said. Steele entered the Sept.

Goshen still churned out 302 rushing yards without leading rusher Gage Croley. Quarterback Caden Slusher led the way with 123 yards, while Hayden Hopkins and Cam Telinda also turned in strong performances as Goshen beat 2025 playoff team Aiken, 34-12, to improve to 3-0 and stay on pace for its best start to a season since 2017. That win over a Division II team gives Goshen (3-0) major points in the Division III, Region 12 computer rankings.

The Department of Defense Casualty Analysis System’s Database was updated on August 21, 2026. It indicated that 417 service members were wounded-in-action (WIA) and listed in the category of “Operation Fury.” The database defined “Operation Epic Fury” as: “On Feb. 28, 2026, the U.S. military commenced Operation Epic Fury under the direction and direct orders of the President of the United States.

On July 12, 1973, a devastating fire broke out at the Military Personnel Records Center (MPRC) in St. Louis, Missouri. The fire burned out of control for twenty-two (22) hours. It started on the sixth floor and took four (4) days to be finally extinguished. The fire destroyed between sixteen (16) million to eighteen (18) million military personnel files. In 1973, no duplicates or microfilm copies existed and neither were any indexes created prior to the fire.

In a recent Supreme Court (April of 2026) decision, the Court ruled that a Coast Guard Petty Officer should have been paid the difference between his Coast Guard salary and his pay as an air traffic controller at the Federal Aviation Administration. Reserve Petty Officer Nick Feliciano was called to active duty from 2012 to 2017 as a result of the military’s operational needs during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

FELICITY, OH – One very lucky lady played a 10 Spot in KENO and won a whopping $800,020 just in time for her birthday. When asked about the timing, she said, “This birthday won’t be topped!” The winner said that she was playing KENO before she went into work. When she played the last game, she selected auto pick but then deselected two numbers. She changed one number to a “14” because that was her and her husband’s first date. Then she picked “26” because of their birthdays.

A Clermont County Grand Jury, on August 27, 2026, indicted Errick L. Davis with four counts of Attempted Murder with firearm specifications, four counts of Felonious Assault with firearms specifications, Discharging a Firearm on or near a Prohibited Premises with firearms specifications, and two counts of Having Weapons Under Disability, for prior juvenile adjudications in Hamilton County for Burglary and Aggravated Riot.
