Weight of the World, by British-Russian visual artist Tribambuka as part of her Right to Rage series. In the face of environmental ruin at the hands of extractive, profit-led, consumption-driven practices, and human and non-human loss of life, there seems to be no other rational emotion to feel than rage. In his book Earth Emotions, the philosopher Glenn Albrecht explores the range of emotions that arise within us in response to environmental breakdown.
Places to catch me yapping + DJing this month
Hello my lovelies, It’s been a very heads-down first half of the year for me, which means my time spent online has been pretty minimal, and might continue that way for a teeny bit longer. But, it’s the IRL events, workshops and talks that I am invited to give and take part in, where so much of my work comes alive.
I have some exciting news!
I can’t quite believe it, but Natural Connection is 1 year old, and what better way to celebrate my first book baby’s birthday than by finally being able to share that the US edition will be published by Princeton University Press on May 12th 2026 and is now available for pre-order! We’ve got a stunning new cover, an updated subtitle, and added a ‘Note from the Author’ to provide added signposting and insight into the thoughts, concepts and processes behind the book, the storytelling within...
Palaver Ecologies
How might we disrupt and alter the course of our mass relational drift, transforming our islands of isolation into archipelagos of connection? This is what I set out to explore in my newest essay, Palaver Ecologies, commissioned for the Serpentine Reader Issue 002, a book exploring what ‘wellness’ means in a world that increasingly is not, which launched last week.
It's official: I passed my PhD Defence đ±
I am so incredibly relieved, excited and proud to share that I successfully defended my PhD thesis, Justice-oriented Participatory Design of Conservation Technologies, at the University of Cambridge, passing with minor corrections! This is a huge moment for me, marking a significant point not only in my academic and professional life but, more deeply, in my personal life.
Launching my online shop 🌱
The world as we know it is ending, and a new one is struggling to be born. We are living through a time of deep uncertainty. Through a time of collapse. The word collapse comes from the Latin root collabi, meaning to fall together, strikingly close to the Latin root of collaborate, collabare. In the face of the ending of worlds, we must ask what it means to f a l l together.
AUTUMN BOOK TOUR π±
Capitalism relies on the perpetuation of our mass relational drift. It rejoices at a Pangea of connection being transformed into a scattering of islands where, isolated, we forget that our small individual world is but a node in an infinitely beautiful and complex ecosystem.
BOOK TOUR REFLECTIONS
What a DREAM tour has been 🥹 🌱 16 EVENTS 🌱 11 CITIES/TOWNS 🌱 500+ ATTENDEES My first book, Natural Connection, was published 2 months ago, and since then, I’ve been travelling around the UK (and Europe) on the first leg of my very first book tour. I had very little expectation for what this time would bring, and I have been so wonderfully overwhelmed and touched by just how many people, and from so many different walks of life, have connected with this book.
BOOK TOUR - SUMMER 2025
Hello lovelies, What an unbelievable month or so it has been (personally and globally). Amongst the madness of our current time, I have been on what has been, and is becoming, an incredible extended book tour. It has been so surreal and overwhelming to see so many of you attend events, bringing so much vulnerability, curiosity and connection. It’s impossible to describe just how special these events have been, nor capture them well for social media.
NATURAL CONNECTION OUT NOW! 🌱
I can’t quite believe it but NATURAL CONNECTION is out in the world and I can officially call myself a published author! I wrote this book for myself and for others to build a natural connection with the Earth and with each other, particularly amidst social and ecological crises. We are living, it seems, through a time of horrors; of violence, genocide, collapse. And in these times, it often seems easier to accept the end of the world than to hope and act for its survival.
