Central Michigan University Provost Paula Lancaster have announced the appointment of Christopher Tycner as interim Vice President of Research and Sponsored Programs. The appointment follows the planned retirement of Bradley Swanson , who has been serving in the role on an interim basis since April 1, 2024, and will retire August 1, 2026.

When the Michigan Chronicle named Cleamon Moorer Jr. among its 2026 Men of Excellence honorees, the recognition placed him alongside leaders from across Metro Detroit whose work spans business, education, health care, public service and community development. Now in its 20th year, the program recognizes African American men whose professional accomplishments are matched by their commitment to serving others.

Central Michigan University Provost Paula Lancaster today announced that the university has earned its 10-year Reaffirmation of Accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. “This reaccreditation confirms our commitment to the success of our students and graduates and to the communities we serve. It demonstrates the high quality of our academic programs and student services,” Lancaster said.

The CMU Alumni Association is proud to recognize these 10 recipients as the 13th class of 10 Within 10. Honorees were selected from more than 80 nominations. Kara Agby, Class of 2018, College of the Arts and Media Kara Agby is the director of partnership marketing and naming rights for the Detroit Lions. Named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Sports for 2025, she rose from manager to director in three years and was part of the Golden State Warriors organization during the team’s 2022 NBA Championship run.

For Central Michigan University alumnus Dan Eversole, '78, returning to campus for the 19th annual Grandparents U with his grandson Brennan wasn't just a summer getaway—it was an event nearly 50 years in the making. The visit gave Dan the chance to revisit the residence hall where he and his wife, Jan, '79, began building their family during their time as students at CMU.

Central Michigan University’s School of Communication, Journalism, and Media proudly announces the next seven inductees into its Media Hall of Fame. The group includes alumni and retired faculty who have had distinguished careers in the fields of journalism, communication, public affairs, advertising, television, and academia. They will be formally inducted at a gala dinner Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, at the Bovee Center on the CMU campus. Tickets and sponsorships are available for purchase.

Vani Yerranagu already understood how to manage data. After working as a SQL Database Administrator at IBM and Accenture in Bengaluru, India, she had built a career managing and optimizing complex data systems. But as her experience grew, so did her curiosity. Rather than focusing solely on the technical side of the work, she wanted to understand how organizations use data to solve problems, shape strategy and make decisions.

Calvin Older, a Central Michigan University graduate (’25) from Clare, Michigan, has a deep interest in learning about other cultures, as well as sharing his own. As an undergraduate, he completed an internship and language study abroad which strengthened his commitment to building an informed worldview.
