M5Stack Stamp-C5, also known as the M5Stamp-C5, is a tiny wireless IoT USB-C board based on the Espressif ESP32-C5 RISC-V microcontroller with dual-band WiFi 6, Bluetooth LE, and 802.15.4 (Zigbee/Thread) connectivity. Despite its small size (19.1 x 17.6mm), the module exposes up to nineteen GPIO pins, eleven on standard 2.54mm pitch headers and castellated holes, and eight on an FPC extension header.

Oddly Specific Objects has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the Open Book Touch, an ESP32-S3-based e-reader with a 4.26-inch e-paper display with 480 x 800 resolution and a capacitive touch screen. The open-source hardware device comes with 16 MB flash, 8MB PSRAM, a frontlight with warm and cool LEDs, a microSD card for storage, and an 800 mAh user-replaceable LiPo battery with everything housed in a 3D printed enclosure.

Makerfabs MaUWB for Home Assistant is an ESP32-S3-based Ultra-Wideband (UWB) module designed for indoor positioning and Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS). It runs ESPHome for Home Assistant integration, enabling it to be used as part of a UWB-based positioning system to track tagged devices in homes, offices, and other indoor environments. The module combines an ESP32-S3 with a MaUWB UWB module based on the Qorvo DW3000, featuring a PA/LNA for long-range ranging.

Norik Systems has developed a compact USB dongle based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF9151 SiP, mostly designed to work as a DECT NR+ child node or a USB-powered gateway. As a reminder, DECT NR+ is a non-cellular 5G standard for long-range low-power applications that works at 1.9 GHz and supports up to one million nodes through mesh, star, and point-to-point topologies. The Norik USB dongle enables developers to easily add DECT NR+ to gateways or child modes.

Rikomagic DS04 is a new 4K digital signage player running Android 14 on a Rockchip RK3576 octa-core Cortex-A72/A53 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It looks to be a cost-down version of the Rockchip RK3588-powered Rikomagic DS08 8K digital signage player with many of the same ports and features, including two 4K-capable HDMI 2.1 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 jack, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, optional 4G LTE, and a few USB ports.

KKSB Cases has introduced a series of rack panels designed for Raspberry Pi clusters in standard rack enclosures. The lineup includes a 10-inch 1U model for two Raspberry Pi boards, a 19-inch 1U model for five boards, and a 19-inch 2U model for up to ten boards. All the panels support Raspberry Pi 5, Raspberry Pi 4, Raspberry Pi 3, Pi 2, and other boards sharing the same mounting hole pattern.

Last week, I wrote about the ESP32-C5-LCD-1.47 as one of the first ESP32-C5 devkits with a built-in display enabling dual-band WiFi 6 connectivity for IoT and HMI projects. However, one reader lamented the lack of touch-capable screens, at which point kwchow pointed to the ESP32-C5-Touch-LCD-2.8 model offering just that by pairing an ESP32-C5 with a 2.8-inch IPS  display with capacitive touch and 320×480 resolution.

ARDEP (Automotive Rapid DEvelopment Platform) is an open-source hardware and software platform hosted on Mercedes-Benz’s GitHub account and released under an Apache 2.0 license. The ARDEP V2 main board is based on an STMicroelectronics STM32G474VE Arm Cortex-M4F microcontroller for motor control with CORDIC and FMAC hardware math accelerators, and features CAN-FD and LIN transceivers, while the PowerIO Shield features 6 outputs and 6 inputs supporting up to 48V and 3A per channel.

PocketMage is an open-source hardware, ESP32-S3 personal digital assistant (PDA) with a primary, sun-readable 3.1-inch E Ink display, a secondary 1.8-inch OLED for high-refresh rate feedback, a full tactile QWERTY keyboard, and a capacitive scroll bar. The device also features a microSD card slot for storage, a buzzer for audio/sound feedback, a USB-C port for charging the 1,200 mAh battery or connecting a USB keyboard, as well as an RTC and an FPC connector for GPIO expansion.
