In 1967, College of DuPage was established, despite the lack of a campus. In the very same year, student journalists launched The Courier, a weekly newspaper covering COD through exceptional writing, quality photography, in-depth research and visually appealing design.
Ever since, The Courier’s mission has been to ethically, accurately and efficiently report, promote, and explain school and community issues, as well as analyze their impact on the student body. While the times have changed, we remain dedicated in telling the stories of the students, staff and community members that make COD the school it is today.

Ty Carlson: I started playing football when I was 5 years old. I think that was the age limit, so as soon as you were allowed to play football, I’ve played since then. I played in elementary school all the way until now, so for about sixteen or seventeen years now. I’ve been playing football my whole life.
People of COD – Zoia Shumak: Finding Community Far from Home - The Courier
Thousands of miles from Ukraine, where war continues to reshape daily life, Zoia Shumak walks the halls of the College of DuPage with a steady smile. A Ukrainian student initially part of the Community College Initiative (CCI), Shumak’s plans took a turn following an escalation in the Russo-Ukrainian War that forced her to stay in the United States.

The College of DuPage baseball team (10-12) played against the Olive-Harvey College Panthers (11-12) on April 10. DuPage went into this game determined to snap out of a three game losing streak just one day after losing against Morton College, 5-7, the day prior. The first two and half innings of the game, pitching was the dominating score-factor with zero runs and a few hits. The bottom of the third finally prevailed as the Chaps scored the game’s first run, taking a 1-0 lead.

The Chaparrals (11-15) played on April 8, against the Joliet Junior College Wolves (26-7) on a clear day, with winds hitting 18 mph heading towards left field. Heading into this game, DuPage was looking to bounce back after losing another doubleheader against Bryant & Stratton College on March 30, 2-17 and 2-13. The Chaparrals then had a short break as their doubleheader against Kishwaukee College, scheduled for April 4, was postponed.

April 13, 2026 The College of DuPage men’s volleyball team competed in the first Great Lakes District Championship against Bryant and Stratton on April 8. After a close first game match up that went into extra points, the Chaparrals took control of the next two sets where they defeated the Bobcats 3-0 with scores of 29-27, 25-20 and 25-13.
