Denver Union Station will celebrate Colorado’s 150th birthday with the second annual Colorado Day: Spirit of the Centennial State on Saturday, Aug. 1, inviting visitors to enjoy a day of history, music, food and family-friendly activities at one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Arriving by gondola, the couple exchanged vows among glowing aspens, crisp alpine air, and distant snow-kissed peaks. They thoughtfully incorporated their beloved dog through custom napkins and a sweet figurine that the bride carried in her bouquet.

Kris Iltis | Lillies in Red White and Blues Artists on Santa Fe will present “Shades of Blue,” a group exhibition featuring work by 15 gallery members from July 17 through Aug. 17, 2026, at the gallery’s home at 747 Santa Fe Drive in Denver. The exhibition examines the emotional and symbolic range of the color blue through paintings, photography, mixed media, textile art, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry.

Vail—her final as artistic director—the emotion that rises first is not nostalgia. Photos Courtesy of Elite Focus Studio This year marks the 100th anniversary of Route 66, “America’s Main Street”—or, as John Steinbeck called it in The Grapes of Wrath, “The Mother Road.” While many parts of Route 66, which spans 2,448 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica, Calif., are now US Highway 40, many portions of the original route remain, with all the nostalgia to go along with it. And, as luck would have it, Denver is an easy car ride (or plane trip) to a significant portion of the route.
