My name is Andrew Mudway-Kefford, and 2026 is a milestone year for me. I live in Bagshot and have recently married Deborah. I turn 50, and this summer I will attempt to swim the English Channel as part of a relay team. Last June, I proposed to my partner of ten years at Machu Picchu in Peru. What makes it even more special is that the very first SwimTayka training camp was also held in Peru, which makes this Channel attempt feel like a story that has come full circle.

The CU3a’s raison d’être is to provide learning, recreational and sporting activities in a fun relaxed atmosphere for people in Camberley and the surrounding areas who are no longer in full time employment. The CU3a mantra is Learn, Laugh & Live. How do we do this? Well, the organisation runs over 130 groups for those wishing to participate in activities such as arts & crafts, sports & fitness, social & discussion, music and languages.

For the second year, the bulbs donated by the public are in full bloom and looking lovely. They certainly do brighten up the High Street even on wet and gloomy days. We have already ordered extra lamp post brackets for Summer 2026 and hope to have over 60 hanging baskets this year. The lamp posts have to be inspected by Essex County Council to ensure they are sturdy and safe enough to carry a basket, and this testing is underway.
