Following in the same vein as its other electric vehicles, Volkswagen has revealed the ID. Buzz GTX as the range-topping version of its retro-styled van. Buyers will be able to choose between two wheelbase lengths, each with different sized batteries. The standard length gets a new 79kWh battery, while the extended wheelbase gets an 86kWh pack. Volkswagen Amarok Aventura (2023)
After a year or so on hiatus, the Volkswagen Amarok is back, and this second-generation pickup sticks to a formula that made the original model popular with buyers. Rather than creating a purely work-focused machine, VW has drawn inspiration from the Touareg SUV and attempted to add some premium quality to the Amarok in an effort to separate it from the rest of the pickup pack.
Ford Transit Custom Active (2023)
While Ford is having a tough fight for sales in the new-car sector, its commercial vehicles are going from strength to strength. The Ford Transit Custom is a case in point, because even though it’s due to be replaced later this year, the current generation that’s been on sale since 2019 is still a top choice in the medium-sized van class. It’s not just something we’re saying for effect, either, because the Transit Custom is one of Ford’s best-selling vehicles of all in Europe.

6WD Hilux to fight EV fires

B-On electric vans come to Ireland
International Motors Limited — the Irish importer of Subaru and Great Wall Motors — has announced that it will start importing the B-On range of compact electric commercial vehicles into Ireland. You might be expecting B-On to be yet another in the burgeoning lineup of Chinese electric car makers, but actually, it’s German, based in Aachen, and Deutsche Post is a major shareholder.
New Mercedes Citan arrives in May
The second-generation Mercedes-Benz Citan is due to arrive on sale in Ireland during May, with the first deliveries due to commence the following month. Its new design marks a step forward from its predecessor, while the compact size should make it a consideration for SMEs, small trades and urban delivery users. Capable of carrying two Euro pallets, the Citan also has two sliding side doors that open to create an aperture of 615mm wide and 1,059mm tall.
Toyota shows off hydrogen Hilux
Toyota has shown off a one-off (for the moment) hydrogen fuel cell version of the Hilux pick-up truck. The pick-up, built in the UK (at Toyota’s Burnaston factory, where the Corolla is assembled), has been partly funded by a grant from the UK government’s Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) for zero-emissions vehicle development.
Blackwater opens dedicated Volkswagen vans centre
As previously reported by Complete Van, Cork-based dealer group Blackwater Motors has invested in a major new Volkswagen commercial vehicles showroom. Now, the doors of that showroom have opened, on Sarsfield Road in the Wilton area of Cork City. Electric ID. Ford announces plush Ranger Platinum
Ford Pro has unveiled the Ranger Platinum, a new, more luxurious version of its one-tonne pickup pitched a level above the Ranger Wildtrak in Ford’s line-up. While the new Ranger wasn’t exactly spartan to begin with, the Platinum adds plenty in the way of luxury touches, such as interior leather and more tech, with power coming from the top-of-the-line 3.0-litre V6 diesel.
