Hirose has announced commercial availability of the ZE150HV series wire-to-board connector for EV and HEV powertrains, with 4.5 mm pitch, 1000V AC/DC support, 10A per pin and operating temperatures up to 125°C. The connector is designed to IEC 60664 conditions (Pollution Degree 2, altitude 6,000m), uses heat-resistant RoHS2-compliant materials and uses a ribbed contact layout to reduce required spacing in high-voltage designs.

The cable supports 1 Gbps data transmission up to 40 m and uses finely stranded copper conductors with Ultra-Shield EMI/RFI protection, including tinned copper braid, foil shield and tinned drain wire.

Amphenol RF has introduced high-flex FAKRA cable assemblies built on RG-58 cable for automotive communication systems, GNSS/GPS, telematics, infotainment and other RF-enabled vehicle technologies. The 50 ohm assemblies support performance up to 3 GHz, use a fine-wire stranded copper center conductor with tinned copper braid shielding and are designed for repeated flexing, vibration and limited installation space.

The fully shielded 0.35 mm-pitch connector supports data transmission up to 40 Gbps, RF signal transmission up to 40 GHz, a 2.2 mm depth, 0.6 mm stacking height and four 2.5 A power contacts.
Why cables and connectors are engineering challenges in megawatt EV charging
Megawatt Charging System (MCS) infrastructure for commercial electric vehicles (EVs) and heavy-duty transportation targets up to approximately 3.75 MW. CharIN, the Charging Interface Initiative, defines MCS operation at 3,000 A and 1,250 V direct current (dc). Those current levels turn micro-ohm resistance into a major heat source. For example, power dissipation in a connector contact or bus joint with 200 µΩ of resistance increases from roughly 18 W at 300 A to approximately 450 W at 1,500 A.

Amphenol RF has introduced additional pre-configured MMCX cable assemblies for RF connectivity in industrial wireless systems. The assemblies use flexible RG-174 cable, support performance up to 3 GHz and are available with straight or right-angle MMCX plug connectors paired with bulkhead SMA, TNC, RP-TNC and N-Type straight jacks. The between-series design supports panel-mount transitions from internal board-level MMCX interfaces to externally accessible threaded connectors.
New adapters support RF performance to 40 GHz
Amphenol RF has expanded its 2.92 mm adapter series with new between-series SMPM configurations for applications up to 40 GHz. The adapters are available in plug and jack versions and pair a threaded 2.92 mm interface with a compact SMPM connection for high-density RF designs, helping support signal integrity and repeatability in microwave test, system integration, radar, SATCOM, aerospace and defense and 5G infrastructure applications.

Samtec, Inc. has introduced the UxV/35-FleXYZ™ ESQT series, a durable interconnect system for small unmanned craft that supports the UXV/35™ standard from the RMS Consortium. Built on a 2 mm grid with 9-pin and 8-pin connectors in long-pin and short-pin versions, the parts stack and nest to form a vertical 35-pin bus that can adapt to different board sizes and configurations for flight control, power distribution, ESC and communications modules.
