Turner Receives Two NAWIC Honors for Workforce Leadership and Project Excellence
Turner received the 2026 NAWIC Impact Award for Corporate Leadership. The award recognizes efforts to expand access, advancement and opportunity within construction. Turner also received a Project Excellence Award for the $490 million Resources Building Renovation in Sacramento, California. The 17-story, 657,000-square-foot renovation included seismic upgrades, major building-system replacements and a new high-performance façade.
Swinerton Names Brian McFarlane to Lead Dallas Healthcare Operations
Swinerton has appointed Brian McFarlane as director of healthcare for its Dallas division. McFarlane brings more than 30 years of experience in healthcare design, strategy and market leadership. The appointment strengthens Swinerton’s healthcare leadership in the Texas market. The role will support healthcare construction activity and business development across the Dallas division.
Ames Construction Showcases Dam and Water Resources Capabilities at 2026 Safety Conference
Ames Construction is participating in the ASDSO Dam Safety 2026 Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event runs Aug. 31 through Sept. 2. Ames representatives Brian Kirwan and Mark Swenson are attending the conference. The company’s water resources work includes dam construction, flood control, reservoir expansion and repair projects. Self-perform capabilities include excavation, dewatering, grouting, pile driving, pipeline installation and structural concrete work.
Amazon Opens 30,000-Square-Foot Arlington Community High School at HQ2
Arlington Community High School has opened a permanent location at Amazon’s Metropolitan Park campus in Arlington, Virginia. The school occupies more than 30,000 square feet across two floors at 1450 S. Eads St. Amazon funded the full buildout, including classrooms, common areas and educator facilities. The school serves approximately 300 students ages 16 and older, with day and evening schedules.
Swinerton Expands Airport Construction Focus as Owners Prioritize Modernization
Airport construction is increasingly centered on modernization, phased upgrades and operational continuity. Swinerton has worked on airport projects involving baggage systems, terminals, lounges, hangars and airfield improvements. Projects at Palm Springs International Airport, McKinney National Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport illustrate different approaches to active-airport construction.
Holt Construction Advances Mission-Critical Facility With Site and Building Systems Work
Holt Construction is delivering site development and building systems work for a mission-critical facility. The scope includes earthwork, landscaping and new access roadways. New parking areas are also part of the construction program. Building systems include low-voltage infrastructure, building management, fire protection and security systems. The project is listed as a work-in-progress update dated Aug. 31, 2026.

STV’s artificial intelligence-powered STVie search platform has earned two honors at the 2026 SMPS New York Liberty Awards, highlighting the growing role of AI-driven knowledge tools in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. The intelligent search platform received the People’s Choice Award, selected through voting by AEC industry peers, along with an Award of Merit in the Website category.
QTS Commits $250M to Texas Water Infrastructure Over Next Decade
QTS plans to invest $250 million in Texas water infrastructure, conservation and community water projects over 10 years. The initiative includes replacement of an aging water tower in Turkey, Texas. QTS plans to provide $15 million through a partnership with Bonneville Environmental Foundation for conservation and water replenishment projects. Future QTS data centers in Texas are expected to use a closed-loop, water-free cooling design.
