The state government has approved two new underground metro stations at Bibvewadi and Balajinagar on the proposed Swargate–Katraj corridor. The project cost for both stations has been estimated at Rs 6.83 billion. Of the sanctioned amount, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will contribute Rs 2.27 billion, the state government will provide Rs 1.16 billion, and Rs 3.41 billion will be raised through loans.
Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Rs 240 Bn Metro Projects Across Four Cities
The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved three key decisions to boost metro connectivity across the state. The projects, with an investment exceeding Rs 240 billion, cover Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and Nagpur. The Cabinet has sanctioned Mumbai Metro Line-11, an extension of Line-4 (Wadala–Thane–Kasarvadavali). The 17.51 km corridor will connect Anik Depot–Wadala–Gateway of India, with 70 per cent of the stretch underground.
Maharashtra Govt Releases Rs 1.43 Bn for MUTP-III Works
The Maharashtra government has released Rs 1.43 billion to the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) to carry out works under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP)-III, aimed at reducing congestion on the city’s suburban railway network. According to a government resolution (GR) issued by the Urban Development Department, Rs 1.24 billion of the sanctioned amount has been provided as additional central assistance from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
Gurugram Metro Phase-1 Construction to Begin on September 5
Construction work on the much-awaited Gurugram Metro is set to commence on September 5 with a groundbreaking ceremony in Sector 44, opposite the GMDA office. Union housing and urban affairs minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana chief minister Naib Singh Saini will jointly perform the Bhoomi Pujan. The first phase of the project includes building a 15.22 km elevated viaduct, 15 stations, a 1.85 km spur to the Dwarka Expressway, and a ramp to the proposed depot in Sector 33.
India and Israel Sign Bilateral Investment Agreement to Boost Economic Ties
The Government of India and the Government of Israel signed a Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA) in New Delhi today, marking a significant milestone in strengthening economic relations between the two nations. The agreement was signed by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and Israel’s Finance Minister HE Bezalel Smotrich. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both governments.
Patna Metro Trials Successful, Red Line Priority Corridor to Launch This Month
Patna is set to roll out its first metro rail service later this month, with successful trial runs conducted on the Red Line priority corridor, the Patna Metro Rail Corporation announced. On 7 September, a metro train completed a test run between the Patna depot and Bhootnath station. Officials said the trials involved rigorous checks of rolling stock fitness, overhead electrification (OHE), and track alignment and stability to ensure operational safety and performance.
Zaakpay, CRUT Launch WhatsApp-Based Bus Ticketing in Odisha
Zaakpay, a wholly owned subsidiary of One MobiKwik Systems, has partnered with Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), a public transit agency under the ONDC Network, to roll out a chat-based bus ticketing service across Odisha. The initiative is designed to simplify and digitise public transport for over 24 million annual commuters, covering nearly 36 million rides across the state.

President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India in New Delhi on September 8, 2025. Uttarakhand, NHLML Ink Rs 68 Bn Deal for Two Mega Ropeway Projects
In a major step to enhance pilgrimage and tourism infrastructure, the Uttarakhand Tourism Department and National Highways Logistics Management (NHLML), a Special Purpose Vehicle under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, have signed an agreement to develop two ropeway projects worth Rs 68 billion. The projects include a 12.9 km ropeway from Sonprayag to Kedarnath, estimated at Rs 41 billion, and a 12.4 km route from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib, costing around Rs 27 billion.
