BDO Canada appoints two senior leaders
BDO Canada, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has promoted Scott Jarrett to managing partner for business services and outsourcing (BSO) and hired Brandon Weekes as a partner in its management consulting practice. Based in Burlington, ON, Jarrett succeeds Bob Lawrence, who has led the BSO practice since its launch in 2022. The practice provides outsourced offerings in payroll, cloud accounting, financial reporting and tax filings, people advisory, and CFO and controllership services.
Four in 10 Canadian manufacturers eyeing move to United States
Forty-two percent of Canadian manufacturing firms say they have already moved production to the US or are considering doing so, according to a KPMG report. The Big Four firm surveyed 275 Canadian manufacturing companies in May 2026. Twenty-nine percent of manufacturers have moved some or all production to the US, while 13% plan to move some or all production south.
BDO Canada adds Ram Balakrishnan as partner in risk advisory
BDO Canada, a national mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has hired Ram Balakrishnan as a partner in its risk advisory services practice in Toronto. Balakrishnan brings more than 30 years of experience in internal audit, enterprise risk services, technology risk, and transformation. He specializes in advising financial services companies on audit transformation, regulatory readiness, board reporting, and AI enablement and governance.
Kimley-Horn expands to Canada with Toronto office
Kimley-Horn, a US-based design and engineering consultancy, has expanded into Canada with the launch of a Toronto office. Kimley-Horn in a press release said that it has completed more than 300 projects in Canada in the last 20+ years and has engineers licensed in most provinces. The Raleigh, North Carolina-headquartered firm says the Toronto office will enhance its ability to support Canadian clients and will strengthen existing and future relationships.
StrategyCorp acquires Campbell Strategies
StrategyCorp, a Toronto-based public affairs consultancy, has acquired Campbell Strategies, a Toronto-based government relations and communications advisory firm. Founded in 2001, Campbell Strategies has practices in government relations, strategic communications, stakeholder management, policy development, transaction support, and litigation support.
MNP taps Caseware for audit technology solutions
MNP, a national mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has selected the Caseware software platform to accelerate the digital transformation of its audit practice. Under the partnership, MNP will deploy Caseware’s cloud engagement solutions suite across the practice. The solution provides firmwide visibility on engagement status and progress, earlier identification of bottlenecks, stronger oversight of quality and execution, and insights to support advisory and growth.
McKinsey appoints Toronto-based partner Andrew Pickersgill as chair
McKinsey & Company has appointed Andrew Pickersgill, a Toronto-based senior partner as board chair, effective Wednesday. The New York-headquartered management consultancy also slimmed down its board from 30 members to 12 senior partners plus managing partner Bob Sternfels, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
Deloitte upgrades its Omnia audit platform
Deloitte last week announced the launch of a unified agentic intelligence network within Deloitte Omnia, its audit and assurance platform. The new embedded network will bring together existing and new AI agents under a single framework “so they can work in concert to coordinate and execute workflows,” Deloitte said in a press release. The release builds on prior generative AI investments into Omnia that were announced in July 2025.
Nearly half of Canadian businesses stuck in AI pilots without meaningful ROI
Nearly half (46%) of business leaders say their organizations are experimenting with AI without achieving meaningful return-on-investment (ROI), according to a report from BDO Canada. The report draws on an Angus Reid survey that polled 520 Canadian business leaders in March and April. The report also found that only 18% of leaders are actively embedding AI into workflows and operations.
