Working on the principle that two engines are better than one, Clark-Michigan introduced their model 110H-T twin-powered elevating scraper in 1970, writes Richard Campbell. The 110H-T was a logical modification of the company’s already successful model 110-11 elevating scraper, but the 110H-T featured a bigger bowl, larger tyres and of course, loads more power to handle grades and poor underfoot conditions.
Avoiding ‘cancel culture’
Image: In May’s Budget, $400 million was earmarked for state highway resilience projects to keep routes open during and after severe weather events such as Cyclone Gabrielle. Civil Contractors New Zealand is applauding the increased Government infrastructure investment in Budget 2026 but says more clarity is needed over regional delivery and says ‘cancel culture’ should be avoided.
The real measure of inclusion
Downer Transport and Infrastructure Contract Manager Samantha Riley discusses why the push to support women in civil contracting needs more work. Sharper tender market signalled in Budget 2026
Businesses that are ready before procurement starts will have an advantage, writes Nick Cowan, Plan A General Manager. Budget 2026 gives civil contractors a clearer view of where public investment is likely to move next. It does not mean work will suddenly flood the market, but it does give contractors, suppliers and consultants a useful steer on where to focus, what to prepare for, and how to position themselves before the tenders land.
