Flying Pirate (2c Blackbeard - Karakatsie, by Karakontie) became the latest winner for his sire when scoring on debut at Salisbury on Tuesday. Trained by Eve Johnson Houghton, the son of Blackbeard travelled prominently and defied greenness to outbattle eventual runner-up Harry Knows by a head in the contest which was won last year, for the same trainer, by subsequent Group 1 National Stakes winner Zavateri.

Moonhall Church (4f Churchill - Little Kodi, by Kodiac) became the latest stakes winner for Churchill with a comfortable win in the Listed Premio XCVII Royal Mares in Milan on Sunday. In the care of Elisa Castelli, Moonhall Church was adding a first black-type win to her name, having won twice in Ireland when trained by Alan McIntyre. The four-year-old was quick to break from the stalls, and she soon established a dominant lead over her rivals.

Duckadilly (5m Churchill - Alutiq, by Kodiac) gained a deserved first black-type win with success in the Listed Kooyonga Stakes at Navan on Sunday. Trained by Daniel McLoughlin, Duckadilly made a winning debut at Naas as a three-year-old and she returned last June with a second successive score, this time at Fairyhouse. The Churchill mare also ran some fine races in defeat last year, including when second in the Listed Ruby Stakes at Killarney in August.

Majestad (3c St Mark’s Basilica - Llew Law, by Verglas) became the second Derby winner for his sire this week with victory in the Spanish Derby at Hipodromo de La Zarzuela on Sunday. Having sired Tuesday’s Group 2 Derby Italiano victor Venetian Prince, it was another Classic result for St Mark’s Basilica, who is also responsible for this year’s unbeaten Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Diamond Necklace.

Isaac Newton (3c Camelot - Etive, by Elusive Quality) continued an excellent weekend for Camelot with victory in the Listed Hill Of Tara Stakes at Navan on Sunday. The Ballydoyle-trained colt won on his second start at Goodwood last August and concluded his juvenile campaign with a fourth to Pierre Bonnard (by Camelot) in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud in October.

Christmas Day (3c Camelot - Beauly, by Sea The Stars) emulated his sire with victory in the Epsom Derby on Saturday, becoming Camelot’s 14th individual Group/Grade 1 winner in the process. A winner of the Group 3 Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown last October, the Ballydoyle-trained colt had also landed the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes back at that track in April. He was last seen finishing third in the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York.

Antigua (3c Camelot - Lady Babooshka, by Cape Cross) got off the mark when running out a comfortable winner at Fairyhouse on Friday. The Ballydoyle-trained colt was dropping back in trip after finishing fourth over a mile and a half at Leopardstown last month. Ridden by Jack Cleary, the son of Camelot made all and kept on well to strike by three and a quarter lengths. Angels Passing (2f No Nay Never - Desert Blossom, by Shamardal) delivered on the promise of her debut run with a clear-cut success at Hamilton on Thursday. The Kevin Ryan-trained filly was a creditable fourth on debut in a Listed contest at York last month, and she stepped up to break her maiden with the minimum of fuss on her second start. Ridden by Kevin Stott, Angels Passing made all and fended off a challenge over two furlongs out to win by an eased-down five lengths.

Gone By (3f Gleneagles - Pigota, by Invincible Spirit) made it third time lucky when coasting to a wide-margin win at Ripon on Wednesday. The Ralph Beckett-trained three-year-old was second on debut to Oaks runner A La Prochaine at Newbury last October and she returned to finish second at Ascot last month. Ridden by Hector Crouch, the daughter of Gleneagles made all and went clear from two furlongs out. She came home in a canter to score by a widening 12 lengths.
