CORNING – The City of Corning Recreation and the Corning Chamber of Commerce premiered a new event by hosting an “America’s Birthday Parade and Picnic” on Friday, the day before the 4th of July, at Northside Park. The community celebration included a free Swim Day at the Teddy Pohler City Pool, an inflatable water slide, and pool party games.

LOS MOLINOS — One highlight of the 59th Annual Los Molinos Fourth of July Parade on Saturday was the return of the Chinese Lion Dancers to Tehama County. It only took the colorful gold-and-red artists 118 years to do so. Back in 1908, residents of Red Bluff’s Chinatown were invited by locals to participate in the annual event. According to Jessica Chew, president of Red Bluff Chew Foundation and organizer of the lion dancers’ parade entry, the history of that first visit is worth retelling.

TCN – Los Molinos celebrates America250 with parade and playday TCN – LM Parade – Julia’s Fruit Stand – MAIN LOS MOLINOS –Once again, the small community of Los Molinos brought out their best tractors and antique cars, closed down a section of Highway 99E, and celebrated the Fourth of July in the way they’ve done it for the past 59 years, this time celebrating America250.

CORNING – The Corning Senior Center will host a Dirty Soda and Ice Cream Social membership drive on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at 1015 4th Street in Corning. Drinks or ice cream will cost $5, but if you join the Corning Senior Center, you'll get one for free. Proceeds will benefit the center's efforts to help fund floor repairs. A dirty soda is a customizable, non-alcoholic drink made by mixing soda with cream, flavored syrups, and fruit, creating a sweet, visually appealing beverage.

RED BLUFF – A 27-year-old man was arrested after detectives investigated a lead about possible child sexual abuse material being made in Tehama County. Dylan Allen Dayberg of Red Bluff faces multiple charges related to child exploitation. According to the Tehama County Sheriff's Office, detectives began investigating after receiving information about possible child sexual abuse material being manufactured in the area. The investigation identified Dayberg as the person responsible.

TEHAMA COUNTY – Tehama County’s Election Results are officially official as of Friday, June 26, after Tehama County Clerk and Recorder Sean Houghtby certified the June 2 primary election. The Tehama County Board of Supervisors voted to accept the ratification at its Tuesday board meeting. Steven Zane and Matt Hansen were officially declared elected to the Supervisor District 3 and Supervisor District 4 positions, respectively.

America is celebrating 250th year of freedom as a republic. That’s impressive, really. Also impressive is the winner of this year’s Los Molinos honorary mayor’s race. If anyone knows Mike Clark, aka ‘Clarky,’ let’s all be thrilled his role as mayor is strictly honorary (wink, wink). But seriously, as Tehama County government becomes more tenuous, Clarky just might be the type of guy who could shape this county up in a real hurry. Why?

Update on recent cases from the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office. Unless otherwise indicated, all of the following convictions were the result of a plea of guilty or no contest by the defendant. Recent State/Local Prison Commitments Jaime Garcia Zamora was charged with voluntary manslaughter with special allegation, personal use of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance in Jail and sentenced to 17 years in state prison.

RED BLUFF — Tehama County Probation apprehended an inmate who had escaped from the Tehama County Juvenile Hall on Thursday, July 2, after a multi-agency search in Red Bluff that included aerial support from the California Highway Patrol. Because the subject is a minor, their identity was not released. Red Bluff Police responded to a request for assistance Thursday afternoon regarding an escaped juvenile inmate.
