A biodiversity project at the Trust's Kernow Building in Pool is transforming a small patch of land on a busy industrial estate into a thriving haven for wildlife. There are nearly 200 wild orchids now flourishing on site and signs that valuable pollinators are making themselves at home. Staff have been working with the Trust's Estates Team to create a greener, more wildlife-friendly outdoor environment that supports biodiversity while enhancing staff wellbeing.

When Margaret developed a severe lower respiratory tract infection, she was not able to manage basic daily activities at home. Rather than being taken to hospital, a paramedic engaged Cornwall's Integrated Frailty Support Service. This triggered a rapid, coordinated response. The frailty team carried out a same day holistic assessment. They arranged support from across the local neighbourhood network. They arranged urgent care through the CHAOS care agency for daily support.

The Trust has received the highest award given by the Ministry of Defence for its support of the armed forces community. The Gold Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises organisations that give outstanding support to people connected to the armed forces. The award shows the Trust's strong and ongoing commitment to reservists, veterans, military families, and the cadet movement. Annie Kenton is equity, diversity, and inclusion engagement coordinator for the Trust.

Wild Wellbeing sessions are bringing together more children and parents to support their emotional health and wellbeing, with over 1,000 families signing up. Organised by the Trust's Mental Health Support Team (MHST), the free sessions form part of the team's summer Wild Wellbeing programme. This summer, the sessions have been held at even more locations across Cornwall.

A member of Trust staff has made a stunning comeback in sailing after being crowned world champion. Sandra Sly is a business support supervisor at Falmouth Hospital. Away from work she is a keen sailor. After a break of 23 years from the sport, Sandra and her husband Stuart entered the 2026 Dart 18 World Championships in France. Despite their time away from the sailing, the husband and wife duo rolled back the years as they sailed to a stunning win after a week of racing in Carnac.

The Guild of Friends of Camborne Redruth Community Hospital have received a generous donation towards the Rosewarne Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. On Wednesday 15 July 2026, Guild members and ward staff were presented with a cheque for £1,000 from local firm Classic Builders. The money has gone towards specialist equipment in the unit's therapy gym, which will help people recovering after a stroke.

A specialist community cardiac nurse with the Trust has gone 'above and beyond' after being nominated for a national award. Ursula Slater has been shortlisted for a Local Hero award after she was nominated by a patient. Ursula is part of the Cardiac Services Team. She works for the West Team in Threemilestone. Most of her patients are based in the Penzance and Hayle areas. One patient was so impressed with Ursula that they nominated her for the award.

More solar PV systems are being installed across Trust health and care settings this year, from the Isles of Scilly to Stratton. Our first systems were installed between 2023 and 2025. Off the back of that success, the Trust received a grant from the Great British Energy Scheme to fit even more. The new systems will take us a step closer to hitting our Net Zero carbon footprint target. When fully up and running, they are expected to generate around 1,180 MWh of clean electricity a year.

Hundreds of farmers and people who live in rural areas are getting easier access to healthcare thanks to a market health hub. The Trust has been working in partnership with the local primary care network, Imagine If and the University of Exeter to deliver the Market Health Hub in Holsworthy. The hub has been a huge success since it was launched in 2023. There have been over 700 people, including farmers and visitors, using the service, from north Cornwall, north Devon and beyond.

With childhood obesity on the rise, a mental health support team manager for the Trust has begun research trials which looks at ways to tackle the problem. In the UK today, 36% of children are overweight. That figure is expected to rise to 41% by 2034. Grace Cloke is a mental health support team manager for the Trust. For almost 2 years, Grace has been studying for a doctorate. Her study focuses on childhood obesity. It is called the 'mind power and healthy lifestyle study'.
