Humanity is facing its greatest existential threat ever with climate change and resource depletion. This is not a crisis waiting to happen in the future, but it is already here and manifests itself in the many resource wars going on in several parts of the world, rising food and fuel prices, growing hunger, natural calamities of horrifying proportions, water scarcity, debt crisis, unemployment, social tensions among communities, growing human rights violations and unprecedented ecological degradation. Unless we take urgent action to change the way we live, trashing our only home, this beautiful planet earth, this crisis has the potential to wipe out the entire humanity and a majority of the other species from the face of this earth. FCRA- When Regulation Becomes a Weapon: Will India Lose Its Minority Institutions?
There are moments when a piece of legislation appears technical but is, in fact, deeply political. The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, or FCRA, is one such law. On the surface, it concerns foreign money entering India. Every sovereign country has a legitimate interest in knowing who sends money into the country, who receives it, how it is used and whether it is being diverted for unlawful purposes. The Trust We Live By
The greatest success of any institution is that we rarely have to think about it. We simply trust it to do what it was created to do We transfer money believing it will reach the right account. We send our children to school expecting examinations to be conducted fairly. We board trains assuming they will arrive safely. We enter hospitals trusting professional judgement. We read the morning news believing someone has separated fact from rumour before it reaches us. None of this feels extraordinary.
Gaza Death Camp: West Ignoring 700,000 Gaza Deaths From Imposed Deprivation
Every day we see the shocking images of devastated Gaza and comprehend a high probability that infants and indeed ourselves could not survive the manifest deprivation from life-sustaining requisites. As estimated from data and methodology published in The Lancet, 875,000 Gazans have died from violence, 175,000, and deprivation, 700,000. However Western media ignore indirect deaths and some academics claim that indirect deaths are only 11% of the direct deaths from violence.
