Why "sandwich generation" has never felt very accurate. The term “sandwich generation”—meant to describe the experience of caring for kids and elders in the same stressed seasons—rings hollow. Or more accurately, rings cutesy. It sounds like something that a marketer would make up to sell me an app that is going to streamline my harried life or an Etsy entrepreneur would cross-stitch on a pillow—”Sandwich generation caregiver?
