The college has played a very special part in our lives - it’s really had a defining role in all of our careers. Six of our group were actually friends from school in Liverpool before we went to Coventry but our group expanded at college as we bonded on our course. We meet each other as a large group every couple of years all over the country and meet up in smaller groups quite regularly too. Some of us are also Godparents to each other’s children.

Ice hockey players from Coventry Blaze have been put through their paces by sport science experts and students at Coventry University as they prepare for the new season. The team, who play in the Elite Ice Hockey League – the UK’s highest level – begun their season at the weekend. To ensure the players are at peak physical fitness, the squad undertook a series of strength and fitness tests at Coventry University last week, led by university staff and students.

A new report has highlighted Coventry University's role in a major Midlands partnership helping researchers turn their ideas into business opportunities. Actor, writer and producer Gaynor Faye is to receive an honorary Master of Arts from CU Scarborough in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry and her role in championing Yorkshire on screen. A Coventry University researcher has been chosen to help shape how midwives learn as Co-Editor of a world leading textbook. Dr Sally Pezaro, from Coventry University’s Research Centre for Healthcare and Community Transformation, will be the lead editor of the next edition of Mayes’ Midwifery. First published in the 20th century, the globally recognised textbook has shaped generations of midwives and remains one of the most influential resources in midwifery education.

A new study produced by a Coventry University graduate and firefighter suggests more time, equipment and support is needed to help colleagues stay safe. Davide Magli joined Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) after a successful placement during his year in industry and now works as an operational on-call firefighter, having recently graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Disaster and Emergency Management.

People using weight-loss drugs are more likely to seek advice from social media than healthcare professionals, a Coventry University-led study has found. Researchers from the UK and Canada found that users of GLP-1 medications - weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro that help regulate appetite and blood sugar levels - often rely on social media, online forums, friends and family for information about the drugs.
