A leading figurehead of the academic community is being celebrated with an honorary doctorate from Coventry University. Professor Stuart Croft, who has been awarded an honorary degree in education, joined the University of Warwick in 2007 as Professor of International Security and has served as Vice-Chancellor and President since 2016. In that time, he has helped to develop innovative partnerships with organisations across the area – including Coventry University Group.

Coventry University has awarded an Honorary Doctor of Education to Professor Deresh Ramjugernath, Rector and Vice-Chancellor of Stellenbosch University. The award recognises his outstanding leadership in higher education, pioneering research contributions and commitment to fostering innovation and international collaboration that aligns with Coventry University’s mission to deliver globally connected, impactful education.

A Coventry University researcher is playing a key role in a major new international project exploring the everyday lives of people in ancient Greece. The Attica Regional Integrated Environmental and Material Survey (ARTEMIS) has been awarded funding by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to investigate the rural history of ancient Greece, offering a more complete picture of how ordinary people lived.

New figures reveal that international students bring benefits of more than £1 billion to Coventry while studying in the city. Coventry University is helping an award-winning aluminium foundry explore how recycled aluminium can be processed into very high-grade materials essential to UK industry. In the UK vital sectors such as automotive and defence rely on primary grade aluminium alloys for their products, but the country currently doesn’t produce enough and imports huge amounts of the material – up to 1.25 million tonnes - each year.
