DUBROVNIK, 3 June 2026 – Dubrovnik has approved extended opening hours for restaurants and bars during Croatia’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, allowing supporters to gather and watch the national team’s fixtures despite late kick-off times in North America. Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković has issued a decision extending the operating hours of hospitality venues across the city during matches involving the Croatian national football team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The solemn ceremonies took place at the “123rd Brigade HV” barracks in Požega, the “General-bojnik Andrija Matijaš – Pauk” barracks in Knin, and the “Eugen Kvaternik” military training ground near Slunj.

OSIJEK, 3 June 2026 – The long-planned new Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek (KBC Osijek) has entered a key realisation phase after the official handover of a land donation agreement, clearing all outstanding property-legal matters and enabling the project to move towards public procurement and construction. The announcement was made during a ceremonial session of the Osječko-baranjska County Assembly held on 2 June 2026.

The the 311th Sinjska Alka will take place on 9 August in Sinj. President Milanović confirmed that he will continue his traditional patronage of the historic event.

Chenab Railway Bridge (Photo: Afcons) Indian engineering and construction company Afcons Infrastructure Ltd will undertake what is being described as the largest railway project in Croatia’s history. Croatian railway infrastructure operator HŽ Infrastruktura announced last month that Afcons submitted the most economically favourable bid in the public procurement process, valued at €677,055,750.67 excluding VAT.

Croatia’s property market continues to show no significant signs of falling prices, despite a slowdown in the number of transactions. While the supply of new-build homes largely depends on the pace of construction, demand remains strong in the market for older flats. However, as Poslovni dnevnik reports, buyers are increasingly facing a major additional expense: renovation.

Gašparović) ZAGREB, 3 June 2026 – The City of Zagreb and the Zagreb Tourist Board have unveiled the programme for this year’s Zagreb Classic, one of the Croatian capital’s most popular summer cultural events. The festival will take place from 19 June to 3 July, bringing a diverse programme of music performances to the city centre.

RIJEKA, 2 June 2026 – Croatia suffered a 2-0 defeat to Belgium in their World Cup warm-up match at Rujevica Stadium in Rijeka on Tuesday, with head coach Zlatko Dalić using the occasion to test a new tactical setup ahead of this summer’s tournament in North America. Dalić deployed a 3-4-2-1 formation which he is expected to use at the FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Dominik Livaković started in goal, with Josip Šutalo, Luka Vušković and Joško Gvardiol forming a back three.

The Croatian Government has approved the introduction of two new year-round state fast catamaran lines, aimed at strengthening transport connections between several Dalmatian islands and the mainland. The decision was confirmed at a government session last week, with the new routes expected to improve accessibility for residents and support regional development across coastal Croatia. One of the newly approved routes will operate between Postira – Pučišća – Omiš – Split.
