The sound of cheering crowds, roaring bulls and pounding hooves filled the Oakdale Saddle Club Grounds as its annual Rodeo kicked off last weekend for its 72nd year. The event is deeply rooted in Western tradition and is one of Oakdale’s most anticipated events. Each year, the Rodeo brings community members together for a weekend of fun centered on bull riding, livestock and heritage. The Rodeo is always held on the second weekend of April.

He faces a single charge of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon.
Men’s golf competes in the 51st Hanny Stanislaus Invitational
Stan State’s Men’s Golf team just wrapped up their home tournament with a strong showing, pairing a competitive performance at the 51st Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational with a meaningful Senior Day for the team’s only senior, Chase Bird. (Business) The Warriors finished the first two rounds in fourth place out of 11 teams with a score of 580, (12 strokes over par), at Turlock Golf & Country Club. This performance kept The Warriors right in the mix against a loaded field.
Senate approves policy changes after lengthy debate
Categories: After a two week break, the Academic Senate resumed today, discussing many reading items leaving no time to get to the discussion items. The meeting began with announcements, including Speaker Arya Alami sharing information about a teach-in taking place tomorrow. Speaker Alami also called for all the committee to do written reports to save time as today’s meeting agenda was expansive.
Turlock Music Academy takes the stage at Stan State
The Turlock Music Academy held its spring student recital at Stan State’s Student Center. The two-hour recital, held March 28, featured performers ages 5 to 12 playing songs such as “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “Fly Me to the Moon,” showcasing the skills they have learned at the academy. A look into the Signal staffs spring break
Categories: This spring break, Signal staff were excited to wind down and take a break from work and school. They shared what they were up to and what they planned to do over spring break. Signals Lead Editor Fernando Delgado (Senior, Economics and Political Science) said his plans for spring break are to relax and hang out with friends. “This spring break, I plan to take it very chill and relaxing, hang out with some friends, and hopefully play some pickleball with them,” Delgado said.
Modesto participates in nationwide “No Kings” protest
A nationwide “No Kings” protest reached Modesto, where over 2,000 people gathered at Gracaeda park and marched down to 5 points on McHenry. The protest opposes the Trump Administration and political corruption in the United States. Protestors met at Graceada park beforehand, where they listened to politician Micheal Masuda and guest speaker Moses Abeyta rally up and encourage protestors. “Our rage fuels our resistance, but our love for America fuels our hope,” Masuda said.

Stan State makes ‘A $54 million commitment’ opening Willow Hall
Stan State’s Stockton campus has officially opened Willow Hall, a new $54 million academic building designed to expand access to higher education and strengthen the region’s healthcare workforce. The opening of Willow Hall marks a major step forward in the university’s Stockton Campus Master Plan, which aims to grow enrollment from 1,000 full-time equivalent students to 2,000. Willow Hall features classrooms, student support spaces, offices and event space.
Stan State baseball: New faces, same goal for 2026 season
Categories: After 23 players graduated in spring of 2025, the 2026 Stan State Warriors baseball team welcomed 19 new faces to its roster this year. In the video, viewers get to know both returning players alongside some of the newcomers, while learning about the team’s values and what it will take for them to succeed on the diamond this season. The Warriors have started the season with a record of 8 wins and 6 losses.
