I am pleased to report that the Executive Director Search Committee has engaged Attorney Lina Lee to replace Keith. Lina is a graduate of Cornell University and the Boston University School of Law. She has devoted her legal career to providing legal services to those who could not otherwise engage private counsel.

John M. Letizia is the managing and founding partner of the employment, healthcare, workers’ compensation, and corporate defense firm Letizia Ambrose & Falls PC in New Haven. Attorney Letizia received his undergraduate degree from St. John’s University and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

Cheryl A. Sharp was appointed as the deputy director of the State of Connecticut Commission on Human Rights (CHRO) on July 4, 2014, and serves as the second in command in the oldest governmental, civil rights agency in the nation. Prior to her appointment, she served as a litigation Attorney within the CHRO's legal department for over twenty years. She represents the state in the prosecution of complaints of discrimination before the CHRO's Office of Public Hearings and in state and federal court.

Louis R. Pepe is a litigation attorney at McElroy Deutsch Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP in Hartford who focuses his practice on business torts and contract disputes and construction contract cases. He represents his clients in state and federal courts as well as in arbitration, mediation, and other ADR proceedings. Attorney Pepe received his Bachelor of Management degree and M.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his J.D.from Cornell Law School.

Cristina Salamone is a principal attorney in Updike Kelly & Spellacy PC’s New Haven and Hartford offices. She focuses her practice on commercial litigation and counseling business owners on contractual and employment issues. Attorney Salamone’s commercial litigation practice involves representing business owners in complex contractual disputes involving purchase and sale contracts, service contracts, construction contracts, home improvement contracts, and partnership agreements.

Media Bias, Misinformation, and Threats to the Judiciary The deterioration of civility and civics education is eroding the rule of law in all segments of our society. The rule of law remains under attack and those attacks are arguably increasing. The attacks come from all angles—some direct and some more subtle. A lack of faith in our educational system, media, political leaders, and courts all represent attacks on the rule of law.
