Through realistic driving scenarios, occupational therapy students evaluate driving performance, strengthen clinical reasoning and apply what they’ve learned before working directly with clients. “Driving simulators are an exciting and innovative teaching tool.
The legacy of Concordia’s first comfort dog
What began with the university’s first comfort dog, Zoey, has grown into a lasting ministry of compassion, presence and care. Born on Nov. 11, 2012, Zoey arrived at Concordia in January 2014. Just like humans, every dog has two sides: one that works and one that plays. Concordia’s first comfort dog, Zoey, was remarkable at both. According to alumna Erika Buchel (’18, ’22), a PharmD graduate and one of Zoey’s original handlers, Zoey possessed a gentle, calming soul.

Why July 4 is special to me: A lifelong love of history
July 4 has always been a special holiday for me. I started out my teaching career as a high school American history teacher. My master’s degree is in early American history. I read around 20-25 American history books and biographies each year. I love reading and studying American history, and don’t take for granted the freedoms and liberties we enjoy as Americans. And if I’m honest, the week of July 4 is one of the few times where I finally feel like I can “get away” and vacation with my family.
Teaching America’s story through America250
At the Batterman School of Business, preparing ethical leaders begins by investing in the teachers who shape the next generation. As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2026, the Batterman School of Business at Concordia is investing in the people who will tell that story: teachers.

At a time when many colleges and universities are increasing costs, Concordia University Wisconsin is taking a different approach. The university has lowered tuition for its online undergraduate programs and several graduate programs, helping remove financial barriers for working adults and students seeking to advance their careers. This decision reflects Concordia’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for learners who may have delayed their educational plans because of cost.

A new way to see: Inside Concordia’s Anatomage Table
An interactive tool meets students where they are, turning complex anatomy into something they can see, feel and explore. At first glance, it looks like an oversized touchscreen. But that impression doesn’t hold for long. Once it’s on and someone begins to move through it, it becomes something more. The human body comes into view. Systems take shape on the screen, each one connected, each one able to be explored in more detail. With a swipe, a heart begins to beat.
Belize through the eyes of a student
An online learner shares how a week of service and cultural engagement fostered professional growth, meaningful connections and a deeper sense of purpose. When I signed up for the Belize Global Education Experience, I knew it would be meaningful. What I did not fully understand was how much it would impact me personally, professionally and spiritually. As an online student, I had not met anyone going on the trip beyond a few Zoom meetings. I had not even met my professor in person before we left.
Built into the story
Though retirement is near, Steve Hibbard’s connection to Concordia and the campus he helped build remains strong. If you ask Buildings and Grounds Director Steve Hibbard when he’s retiring, he’ll give you a date: June 30. If you ask whether he’s actually leaving Concordia, the answer gets a little more complicated. “There’s kind of a funny saying at Concordia,” Hibbard said.
