It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Cathern McClusky Walker, age 95, on May 24, 2026, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Urbana. She was born on Jan. 12, 1931 in Harrisburg to Berry and Edna Bush. She married Robert McClusky in 1946, and together they built a life in and around the Avon and Roseville area filled with the joy of raising their four children, Duane, David, Cathy and Caryn.

Dr. Clifford Mosley Dr. Clifford Mosley, a lifelong educator, mentor, coach and proud son of Carbondale, passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Though his accomplishments throughout life were many, he will be remembered most for the way he connected with people — through conversation, laughter, storytelling and a genuine love for teaching others. Dr. Mosley was deeply rooted in the Carbondale community and remained proud of the place and people who shaped him.

Bob Westberg, formerly of Carbondale
Bob Westberg Beloved husband, father, uncle and friend, Bob Westberg, 74, passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Bob was born on Nov. 3, 1951, in Raleigh, N.C., to William Carl and Helen (Groff) Westberg. He married Beverly Henderson on June 9, 1979, in Carbondale. Bob received bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and psychology from Purdue University in 1973 and attended graduate school in business administration at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Judith LaVonne Waite, formerly of Harrisburg
Judith LaVonne Waite Judith ‘Judy’ LaVonne Waite, age 85, passed away on May 7, 2026, in Plano, Texas. She was born in Flora to the late Rolla and Thelma Whiteside and grew up in Harrisburg, where she met the love of her life, Jay Waite. Judy and Jay were married for more than 65 years. They traveled the world together and enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and Wendover, Nev., where they were often joined by Judy’s sister and late brother.

Robert Arthur Hennessey Robert Arthur Hennessey, 85, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Marion VA Medical Center in Marion surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on July 3, 1940, in Greenfield, Mass., to John and Effie (Clark) Hennessey. Robert married Barbara Schlice on Dec. 19, 1967, at the Candlelight Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Robert honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era from 1963-1966, during which he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Doris June Reynolds, formerly of Harrisburg
Doris June Reynolds Doris June Reynolds, 91, of Miner, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2026, while residing at the Sikeston Convalescent Center, Sikeston, Mo. Doris was born in the community of Somerset south of Harrisburg on Jan. 15, 1935. She was the first child of Herman and Lorene Dowdy. She was united in marriage with the late Rev. Jonah Lee Reynolds on April 12, 1952. They shared 68 wonderful years of life together until the passing of Rev. Reynolds on March 8, 2020.

SIC Public Information Years before he started flying at supersonic speeds, Jacob Vaughan was hitting fastballs on the baseball field at Southeastern Illinois College. This spring, Captain Jacob “Atlas” Vaughan will return to campus not as a student-athlete, but as SIC’s 2026 Distinguished Alumnus and keynote speaker for commencement.
