The Tempo (10-16) have now lost three straight games, and seven of their last eight. Wilson, the four-time WNBA MVP, had 26 points with six rebounds and four assists while Young had a double-double (24 points, 12 assists). NaLyssa Smith chipped in 18 points for the Aces (18-7).

TORONTO — Victor Mesa Jr., Cedric Mullins and Nick Fortes all belted solo blasts as the Tampa Bay Rays hammered the Toronto Blue Jays 7-1 in the opener of their series Monday night. Sometimes Vancouver's best wildlife shows aren't on a whale-watching tour, they're from the end of a neighbourhood pier. West Van resident Andrew Farris got a once-in-a-lifetime shot of a family of otters and a grey whale all in one continuous video on Saturday evening (July 18), while visiting Dundarave Pier. Farris was recording three young otters and their mother playing and eating near a floating dock near the pier around 7 p.m. and seconds later he heard the distinct blow of a whale nearby.

U.S. officials say three Mexicans have pleaded guilty to being part of a human smuggling ring that brought people into the United States from Canada. The U.S. Justice Department says the three were involved in an organization that brought hundreds of people into the United States illegally. They have each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit alien smuggling and several counts of aliens smuggling for financial gain.

PENTICTON — Mounties in Penticton, B.C., say a man has been charged in a crash that killed a female cyclist during last year's Okanagan Granfondo. Two others were seriously injured when they were hit by a vehicle on July 13, 2025. Police say they conducted an extensive investigation into the collision, which ultimately led them to forward recommendations to the BC Prosecution Service for the consideration of charges.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tropical Storm Bertha formed Monday evening in the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida Panhandle and could bring heavy rain and storm surge flooding to U.S. coastal areas, forecasters said. The center of Bertha was located about 110 miles (180 kilometers) south of Panama City, Florida. Maximum sustained winds were around 40 mph (65 kph), according to an evening advisory from the Miami-based National Hurricane Center.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump signed orders Monday to hammer certain Canadian products with 50 per cent tariffs, escalating trade tensions with the United States' northern neighbour. "President Trump took decisive action to hold Canada accountable for its retaliation and discrimination, delivering on his promise to correct trade imbalances and ensure fairness for American workers, farmers, and businesses," United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said in a statement.
