A devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit southeast Turkey, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The quake was recorded by the US Geological Survey and struck at 04:17 local time, at a depth of 17.9 km near the city of Gaziantep. The impact of the quake was felt in ten cities including Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adiyaman, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Adana, Diyarbakir, and Kilis.
