DGA Western Executive Director/ Entertainment Union Coalition President Rebecca Rhine recently issued the following statement on the Passage of AB/SB 186 “On behalf of our 167,000 members across California, the Entertainment Union Coalition (EUC) thanks Governor Newsom and Legislators for ensuring that the recently enacted SB 122 would not undermine the competitiveness of the California Film and Television Jobs Program passed just last year.

Los Angeles – Today, Directors Guild of America National Executive Director Russell Hollander issued the following statement on the need for a federal tax incentive. “One of the DGA’s longstanding priorities is to encourage domestic film and television production. A stackable federal tax incentive is critical for ensuring that the United States remains a competitive marketplace for production.

When the chaos finally catches up with him, Charles had to make the ultimate choice: the dope or his music. He kicked heroin cold turkey, which is documented graphically in the film.

August 19, 2026 The DGA has posted new FLTTA deal memos online for Director and AD/SM members. These new deal memos should be used for any FLTTA project.

August 19, 2026 The DGA Low Budget Theatrical Sideletter covers scripted films intended for theatrical release with budgets of up to $11 million. This contract provides modified terms and conditions that address producing lower budget features under a DGA contract. The entire agreement can be found on the DGA website.

In a recent joint letter, the DGA and IATSE raised concerns "about the potential for a prolonged timetable for the litigation related to the proposed merger of Paramount Skydance Corporation (“Paramount”) and Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc.

July 23, 2026 In 2025, following months of extensive involvement from the DGA, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a bill that increases and modernizes the state’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program. This legislation more than doubles the program’s annual funding — from $330 million to $750 million — and introduces key updates designed to keep production, below-the-line jobs, and investments rooted in California.
