Breaking away from their grownup minders, teenage Zach (Nick Robinson) and younger brother Gray (Ty Simpkins) steal a glass “gyrosphere” vehicle and go off-roading through the Jurassic World theme park, gliding freely amidst the smaller dinosaurs.

July 23, 2026 In 2025, following months of extensive involvement from the DGA, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a bill that increases and modernizes the state’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program. This legislation more than doubles the program’s annual funding — from $330 million to $750 million — and introduces key updates designed to keep production, below-the-line jobs, and investments rooted in California.

July 22, 2026 In February 2026, California Assembly Bill 2403 (AB 2403), a measure proposing a new tax credit to incentivize commercial film production in the state, was introduced to the state legislature. Authored by California Assemblymember Sade Elhawary with co-authors Robert Garcia, Mark Gonzalez, John Harabedian, Sharon Quirk-Silva and Pilar Schiavo, AB 2403 would establish a California Commercial Production Tax Credit Program with a capped annual allocation of $15 million.

July 22, 2026 Illinois has become the first state in the nation to enact a sustainability uplift for film and television production with its 5% tax credit increase available to productions that achieve certified “Green” status. The uplift is stackable on top of the state’s existing 35% base credit and is a template towards a both a sustainable future and a way to keep productions local that the Guild would like to see applied elsewhere.

July 22, 2026 On July 6, Hawai’i Governor Josh Green signed SB 2580 into law, strengthening and extending the state’s film and television tax credit program. Some of the notable reforms include increasing the annual cap to $60 million for certain productions, adding a 5% uplift to the overall credit for utilizing at least 80% local hires, and extending the overall program through 2038, providing much needed consistency for long-term productions and investments.

Los Angeles – The Directors Guild of America (DGA) today announced the schedule of key dates for the 79th Annual DGA Awards, which will take place on Saturday, January 30, 2027 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Theatrical Feature Film and Michael Apted Award for First-Time Theatrical Feature Film nominees will be announced on Thursday, January 7, 2027 and Television, Commercial, and Documentary nominees will be announced on Wednesday, January 6, 2027.

Los Angeles – Today, Directors Guild of America President Christopher Nolan and National Executive Director Russell Hollander issued the following statement. We are pleased to report that DGA members have voted overwhelmingly to ratify the new four-year BA/FLTTA agreement. This ratification is the result of tremendous engagement and more than 18 months of preparation, research, and negotiations on behalf of DGA members across every category of membership.

Los Angeles – Directors Guild of America President Christopher Nolan made the following statement upon learning of the passing of James Burrows: "Our Guild has lost a legend. With more than 40 years directing more than 1,000 episodes of the most critically-acclaimed and audience-beloved sitcoms of all time, James Burrows was the modern master of the sophisticated comedy and a beloved member of the DGA.
