US-based telematics firm Teletrac Navman – which tracks around 700,000 on- and off-road assets worldwide – has been acquired by private equity firm Respida Capital. The seller, Vontier Corp, will retain a minority stake in the business. The purchase price is US$220 million, comprising $80 million in cash plus an interest-bearing loan from Vontier to Respida and the value of the equity. Respida, based in Miami, Florida, specialises in acquiring software companies.
Metis Engineering has launched its Air Wise air quality sensor for transport and industrial HVAC systems. The new sensor measures pressure, temperature, NOx, VOCs, CO2, humidity, dew point and impact shock levels in real time over CAN bus communications link. Built to automotive standards including ISO 7637-2 and ISO 16750-2/4, the new unit is designed for use in passenger and commercial vehicles, off-highway machinery and other industrial systems.
