The Southern California garage punk outfit has been together in one form or another since 2015, blending psychedelic garage rock, punk, surf, indie, and improvisation into a sound that’s difficult to categorize but impossible to ignore. Their songs often shift gears unexpectedly, veering from melodic passages into explosive bursts of energy without warning. Frontman Dylan offered the most memorable description.

Fans of Chance the Rapper filled the Hollywood Bowl on Juneteenth, celebrating a night of good vibes, dancing, and educational lessons offered up through documentary clips highlighting African-American struggles, perseverance, and community. Opening up for Chance the Rapper was DJ Novena, followed by Vic Mensa, and lastly D-Nice joined by the DC 6 Singers. The venue was packed from the pit to the very back of the Bowl as thousands gathered to celebrate Juneteenth through music and community.

We recently sat down with Desperate Measures, a trio out of L.A., CA. They don’t just play shows, they detonate them. Their shows are explosive and no matter the size of the crowd, they always give 100% to any performance. Made up of Danny on drums, Drew on guitar and vocals, and Moi on bass, the Southern California punk trio brings the kind of stage energy that feels sweaty, unpredictable, and wildly committed.

We recently interviewed the Orange County indie emo band Who’s Cuter Now?, and we learned that their success isn’t measured by record deals or sold-out arenas. It’s measured in friendships, community, and the simple joy of creating something meaningful together.
