Whether it’s a learned art or a gene you’re born with, I will never possess the DIY prowess of interior designer Shannon Tate-Giordano. Her powder room makeover, in which she just casually stenciled the floors and turned a bowl into an unbelievably luxe sink, has a permanent place on my design mood board. When she’s not tackling her own personal projects—and, really, even when she is—she’s imbuing clients’ homes with her trademark cozy touch through her studio Shannon Tate Interiors.

My Labor Day weekend countdown if officially going. It always surprises me how many little to-dos can be accomplished with just one extra day off. Finally hanging the candle sconces, entryway peg rail, and numerous artworks that I’ve been stowing in a closet for months will fill me with glee. Time isn’t the only thing I plan to take advantage of. With all the sales that will be going on, it’s an ideal moment to replace my fur-embedded, paw-worn living room rug.

Sometimes when we poll Home Front’s guest editors on what’s exciting (or tiring) them most in interiors, their answers are all over the map. I don’t think there’s a world in which I’ll ever get sick of traveling to Northern California’s wine country. I love hanging by the pool with family in Napa, shopping for antiques at the Modern Antiquarium in Healdsburg, and sitting in Failla Winery’s cozy lodge in St. Helena for a tasting.

Did you catch last week’s Home Front? In it, Lindsey Mather gave us the rundown on a bed trend that’s beginning to bubble up: triangular headboards. Well, one of the early adopters of the style is designer Lauren Carlucci, and today she shares the story of how her take came to be. It shouldn’t surprise you that Lauren is pioneering the look—she’s always liked a space with idiosyncrasies.

After a last summer hurrah out in Sonoma, California, where my husband and I visited wineries, hung out on foggy beaches, and ate amazing seafood, we’re back in Brooklyn and buckling down for marathon training (see you on November 1, NYC!). The sticky August air always makes me pine for jacket weather, but I’m trying to channel this Ibiza home we recently toured, stop wishing time away, and be present in the heat.—Samantha Weiss-Hills, managing editor Home Front is a reader-supported newsletter.

I’m the overthinker Mother’s Daughter Design founder Olivia Snow cautions us about today. Give me a decision to make—chestnut or chocolate linen shams? keep the ceiling white or match it to the walls?—and I want time to mull it over three or twelve times. Sound like you, too? It might be the dog days of summer, but life feels busier than ever right now. I’ve been working-from-deck in a sorry attempt at squeezing in more outdoor time—Trend Watch reports must be written, even when it’s 80 degrees and sunny.
