The Peninsula Pulse is Door County’s resources for news, arts and entertainment.
Founded in 1996 by David Eliot and Tom McKenzie, the Pulse was launched to bring a fresh perspective to the people, lifestyle, arts, and literature culture of the Door County peninsula. Now owned by Eliot and Egg Harbor native Myles Dannhausen Jr, the Peninsula Pulse and its distribution and film companies employ 15 full-time and 7 part-time employees dedicated to bringing the stories of Door County to print, the web, and film.
Today the paper is the area’s trusted resource for local news, entertainment, opinion, and arts news. The Pulse’s staff of writers, reporters, editors, and salespeople are deeply entwined with the ethic of the peninsula and the paper strives to be not just a reflection of its community, but a driving force for change and self-examination. Raised in Lake Forest, Illinois, she was a true artist from a young age, winning awards and scholarships for her artistic ability.

The Ahnapee Trailblazers led early Monday, but ended up losing their Senior Legion baseball game at Ashwaubenon, 4-2. The Trailblazers got on the scoreboard in the top of the first when Jacob Massey singled to plate Hobbs Emerson.

Legion Baseball: Trailblazers Fall at Bonduel
The Ahnapee Trailblazers, who led by a run going into the bottom of the seventh inning on Saturday, then gave up two runs and lost their Senior Legion baseball game at Bonduel, 4-3. It marked the second time Ahnapee lost by a run to Bonduel this season after the Trailblazers dropped a 3-2 decision July 2 at Sturgeon Bay’s Memorial Field.
Triathletes Beat the Heat in Egg Harbor
The first day of the Door County Triathlon event at Murphy Park in Egg Harbor was greeted with perfect conditions on Saturday morning. The open water was as smooth as it has ever been for the race, said director Sean Ryan, One thousand runners registered for the Sprint, with 872 finishers in the event, including 447 men and 425 women. The event included a quarter-mile swim, 18-mile bike and 3.1-mile run.

The Ahnapee Trailblazers scored three times in the fifth inning and added two runs in the top of the seventh en route to winning Thursday’s Senior Legion baseball game at Bay Port, 6-4. Siggy Hansen pitched all seven innings for the Trailblazers to record the victory, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out eight.

Local librarian Beth Lokken will lead a weekly children’s storytime focused on butterflies on Monday, July 13, at 2 pm. This week’s featured picture book is The Amazing Life Cycle of Butterflies, written by Kay Barnham and illustrated by Maddie Frost.
