Six decades since Star Trek first beamed onto television screens across the world, The Royal Mint has released two collectable 50p coins to celebrate the global phenomenon and its intergalactic legacy. This marks the first time Star Trek has featured on UK 50p coins, following the success of the Mint’s previous sci-fi collectable coin series, first introduced in 2023. This previous collection saw close to 800,000 coins find their way into collections across 60 countries worldwide.

The eight-part superhero series from HBO stars Kyle Chandler as a profane Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as Jordan’s sexually promiscuous substitute, John Stewart. Both men have been picked by The Guardians of the Universe to wield a power ring that allows them to materialise green-coloured constructs by force of will.
