DOWNTOWN EXPRESS

Newspaper
Downtown Express, the newspaper of Lower Manhattan, was originally called Battery News and was founded in 1987. We expanded to a weekly after the Sept. 11 attacks and our coverage of the neighborhoods suffering from the aftershocks of 9/11 earned us first place awards for community service and leadership from the National Newspaper Association and the New York Press Association. We continue to cover the efforts to rebuild the World Trade Center site and have won numerous NYPA awards including for best editorials, coverage of local government, business, the environment and for in-depth coverage. Follow us on Twitter. The paper is now published biweekly by NYC Community Media L.L.C. Source
