FROM THE DVB NEWSROOM Arakan Army claims military is losing war The Arakan Army (AA) stated that the Burma Army is on the verge of losing the war in Arakan State as its military bases have fallen one by one since fighting resumed Nov. 13. Myebon, Minbya, Mrauk-U, Kyauktaw, Pauktaw and Taungpyo in Arakan and Paletwa in southern Chinland have come under AA control. The Burma Army destroyed the Maei bridge which connects Ann and Taungup townships, on Feb. 16.

FROM THE DVB NEWSROOM Political prisoner Noble Aye was killed in Bago Region’s Waw Township on Feb. 8, her brother Htet Myat confirmed to DVB on Friday. “I am at a loss as to what to do next. How can I seek justice for her?” he asked. “We have learned that a woman and a man were shot dead on February 8 while returning from court. Their bodies were taken to Waw Hospital and quietly buried without public notice,” said a member of the Waw People’s Defense Force (PDF).
National Unity Government lacks chain of command, states analysts
FROM THE DVB NEWSROOM Myanmar conflict analysts have pointed to the fact that the National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Defense lacks a clear chain of command for resistance forces fighting against the military in the central region of the country, known as anyar in the Burmese language. The military retook control over most of Kawlin, a district-level town in Sagaing Region, on Feb. 11. It was seized by resistance forces led by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in November.

FROM THE DVB NEWSROOM Bangladesh hands over Border Guard Police to Burma Bangladesh returned 330 Border Guard Police and military personnel from Burma, who had fled across the border from attacks by the Arakan Army (AA) in northern Arakan State earlier this month, the Daily Star reported. A Burma Navy ship transported the Border Guard Police and military personnel from Cox’s Bazar, near the Burma border, back to the country under the supervision of Bangladeshi and regime authorities on Thursday.
