The future didn’t just knock this week — it showed up early, let itself in, and started reorganizing the furniture like it owned the place. Regulators are sprinting toward stablecoin deadlines with the enthusiasm of interns who just learned the CEO reads their weekly reports. Tokenization is no longer “accelerating”; it’s behaving like it found a turbo button nobody meant to install. And AI agents? They’re still opening crypto wallets like they’re signing up for free trials they’ll forget to cancel.

Digital assets aren’t “breaking in” anymore — they’re quietly rearranging the furniture while global finance pretends this is all part of the remodel. The last several days show a shift from parallel motion to coordinated choreography across regulators, banks, market infrastructure, and global policy bodies. This week wasn’t architectural. It was integrative — and occasionally a little existential.

A perfectly American way to wrap up 250 years: fireworks, aircraft flyovers, hot dogs, beer (both the real stuff and the “I’m being responsible” stuff), music, and then more fireworks because we’re nothing if not consistent. Spectacular all around.

We think AI is going to be a great disruptor, but what do financial advisors really think? Of course, we get regular poll numbers from research sponsored by custodians and wealthtech providers, those polls usually find comfortable majorities of advisors… well, comfortable about their future with AI, but that doesn’t tell us much about how individual practitioners really feel, and why. So why not ask?

Artificial intelligence’s torrid pace of development continued during the final week of June and opening days of July as government oversight, frontier model competition, infrastructure spending and commercialization all dominated headlines. The week’s biggest story remained the continued fallout from the delayed rollout of OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 family of models, highlighting the increasingly close relationship between Washington and frontier AI developers.
