Graham County supervisors to consider $153M preliminary budget
SAFFORD — The Graham County Board of Supervisors is scheduled Monday to consider a $153.02 million preliminary budget for fiscal year 2026-27, along with a $2 million grant application for a proposed “Action Park” at the Graham County Fairgrounds. The board will meet at 8 a.m. Monday at the Graham County General Services Building, 921 Thatcher Blvd., in Safford. The preliminary budget is retroactive to July 1, with personnel items effective July 25.
Riggs Flat Lake improvements boost fishing access and protect wildlife

TUCSON — Cyclospora is a microscopic intestinal parasite that spreads through contaminated food or water. Swallow it on a piece of produce and, days later, it can cause watery, often explosive diarrhea, along with nausea and fatigue that can last for weeks. The illness it causes, cyclosporiasis, turns up most summers. This year it arrived earlier and spread further than usual, with cases across dozens of states running above recent seasons as public health investigators work to find the source.
Knife threat, drugs call top Thursday sheriff’s blotter
SAFFORD — Graham County sheriff’s deputies and Pima police responded to a report that a woman pulled a knife on her son, a drugs call, welfare checks involving a child and a man experiencing suicidal thoughts, medical calls and custody-related complaints, according to activity reports released Friday. The Graham County Sheriff’s Office listed 25 incidents from Thursday, July 16, through Friday morning, July 17. The Pima Police Department listed 12 incidents during the same reporting period.
