Namibia Road Accident Statistics By: Nghiinomenwa-vali Hangala The National Council Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Housing has declared the country’s road accidents a national public-health, socioeconomic, and development crisis. The Committee has also attributed driver behaviour as the main cause of accidents. From 2024 to mid-2026, the country has recorded 3,020 crashes that caused 2,330 serious injuries.
Geology Cannot Be Commanded, and Capital Cannot Ignore Economics

Amutse expressed this at the Occasion of the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) Programme that was held in Norway. This comes at a time when the country is preparing for a final investment decision at some of the appraisal wells.
Around 40KM of Rail Line to be Constructed Every Year

This will translate into a new 250 KM railway line across the country. The firm poked holes in the country’s continuous budget deficit and the increased borrowing as a strategy to meet budget shortfalls.
Swakop Property Market Nears N$10 Billion
By: Staff Reporter According to analysis by urban development specialist Francisco Neshila on Swakopmund’s Property Market, Swakopmund recorded 8,209 property transactions over the last decade with a cumulative transaction value of N$8.93 billion. The market currently reflects a median residential property price of approximately N$650,000, while serviced land averages are at N$1,040 per square metre.
Zambezi Bream Becoming Scarce in the Region’s Rivers
By: Nghiinomenwa-vali Hangala Assessment done on the streams of the Zambezi rivers has revealed the depletion of Zambezi bream and other fish species in the region’s river systems. It has resulted in a call to restock fingerlings for the bream and tilapia species. This was revealed in the Zambezi Regional Council Annual Report, which was recently released by Parliament.

Ondangwa Records N$1.1 Billion in Property Transactions Over Last Decade
By: Hee-Dee Walenga Speaking on Eagle FM’s land and property development programme, Ulwazi, former President of the Namibia Institute of Town & Regional Planning, Fransisco Neshila, provided some insight into the land and property development environment of Ondangwa. Ondangwa has totalled 1,993 land & property transactions since 2016 worth a total market value of N$1.1 billion. The average price of transactions stands at N$571,970, with a 14.9% subsidy share and a 446 m² median erf size.
SACU Members Agrees to Deploy N$5 billion to New Fund
By: David Shoombe The 9th Summit of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Heads of State has agreed to establish a Regional Innovative Funding Mechanism with an initial capitalisation of N$5 billion spread over the 2027/28 and 2028/29 Financial Years. The Heads of SACU States, including Namibia’s president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, met in Cape Town last week, according to the updates from SACU Secretariat.
