The institution was established in 1991. Larsen died in 2020, at age 93, with Peter Olsen, his life partner of 30 years, at his side.

Guild Hall was celebrating its director, Andrea Grover, for her ten years of service.

By Linda Lee — While Andrea Grover, the director of Guild Hall, was undergoing treatment for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a chronic disease that attacks the brain and spine, she often felt weak and cold. She sometimes needed a Rollator to walk. Members of her board of directors even turned up at her house, she said in an interview, to help clean. A definitive diagnosis of ALS, which normally offers a lifespan of only three to five years, wasn’t made until January, 2026.

The Hamptons Festival of Music opens its 2026 season with an evening of warmth, elegance, and orchestral brilliance. Brahms’ luminous Serenade No. 2 offers rich textures and pastoral lyricism, while Vaughan Williams’ beloved The Lark Ascending soars with transcendent beauty and poetic serenity. The program concludes with Mozart’s magnificent Symphony No. 39, a masterwork filled with grandeur, wit, and radiant energy.
