Guitarist Tom Caufield brings us an album without any guitar. Using synthesizers and a violinist, he channels the sound of progressive groups like Popol Vuh and Vangelis on the album, Collaboratia. John Diliberto is always collaborating on Echoes from PRX.

On the next Echoes, music by Balthvs from their sixth album, Manifest. The Bolivian trio is in the psychedelic tradition of Khruangbin, mixing acid rock guitars, trippy songs and eastern flourishes. We’ll hear them and more on Echoes from PRX.

A few years ago, the atmospheric guitar ensemble released an ominously titled album, simply called End. It’s a much more rocking album than their previous releases and certainly their Friday Night Lights score, but we found a more cinematic track on it. He teams up with singer Raven Violet, with whom he’s worked in the group Unloved, to create a politically-charged album, Blind on a Galloping Horse.
