East Coast Radio (ECR) is a KwaZulu-Natal commercial South African radio station with an audience of approximately 2 million.[1] It is one of the largest regional radio stations in South Africa.
The station can also be heard online via its website and on channel 26 via Digital Worldspace Radio and is also available for listen on their app which is downloadable from the App Store and Google Play Store. It broadcasts from Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal. In November 2019, East Coast Radio had enabled a new online feature to listeners called East Coast Gold, which enables them to play music from the 1960s and the years that succeeded it.[2] The station also seem to have a limited selection of music, as they constantly repeat songs.
East Coast Radio started as Radio Port Natal, broadcasting from the SABC studios in Old Fort Road, Durban on 1 May 1967. When the station upgraded its technology to include stereo broadcasts, it was rebranded to RPN Stereo. It was sold to the Kagiso Media Group on 1 July 1994.
The list of former radio presenters includes Daryl Ilbury, Alan Khan, Dave Guselli, Di Brophy, Damon Beard, Paul Harper, Tim Thabethe, Clayton Robbertze, Omar Essack, Mags van der Westhuizen, Mel Massyn, Makhosi Khoza, Lev David and Ravi R, Minnie Ntuli, amongst others. Richards Bay residents threaten legal action over coal dust and water crisis
Residents in Richards Bay say they are considering legal action and possible protests over coal dust pollution, water shortages and failing municipal infrastructure. The Concerned Residents Civic Association held a public meeting last week. Residents raised concerns about what they describe as increasing coal dust from trucks transporting coal to the port. The association’s Jéan Gerber says residents are calling for the railway to be restored to reduce the number of coal trucks on the roads.

12 killed as Polish bus overturns in Hungary: officials
A Polish bus overturned on a Hungarian highway early Sunday killing 12 people and leaving at least 10 with serious injuries, Prime Minister Peter Magyar and officials said. The coach, heading from Serbia to Poland, crashed at 1:00 am (2300 GMT Saturday) on the M3 highway near Mezokeresztes, east of Budapest, according to a police statement.

Durban traffic alert: SADC Summit to affect traffic around ICC
Residents are reminded that road closures will be in place on routes surrounding the Durban ICC due to the SADC Ordinary Summit taking place at the venue. Motorists urged to plan Traffic disruptions are expected on Saturday and Sunday, with motorists advised to plan their routes accordingly. Walnut Road, between Bram Fischer Road and Dr AB Xuma Street, remains closed for the duration of the summit. The road is expected to be reopened on Tuesday.

Black Sash launches 24/7 chatbot to help South Africans understand their rights
South Africans seeking help to understand their rights can now get advice around the clock. The Black Sash officially launched a chatbot called Sash Chat this week. The Multilingual service is designed to provide information and referrals 24 hours a day, seven days a week, after the organisation struggled to keep up with the growing demand on its WhatsApp helpline. 24/7 rights advice The organisation’s Kgothatso Sibanda says its WhatsApp helpline was receiving around 100 messages a day.
At least 20 killed in new Nigeria violence: lawmaker
More than 20 people were killed in violence between the rival Kambari and Fulani communities in central Nigeria, a lawmaker and other sources said Saturday. A lawmaker representing Borgu Federal Constituency, Jafar Muhammad, confirmed the clashes, saying there were 20 dead and calling for the deployment of security forces. Muhammad described said the violence involved several ethnic groups in the region.
