YouTube has risen to the top as the most popular service used for podcast consumption in the UK, nearly two years after YouTube edged out Spotify in the U.S for the first time. According to Edison Podcast Metrics UK, 29% of weekly podcast listeners age 15+ choose YouTube as the service they use most to consume podcasts, surpassing Spotify (28%) for the first time on record.

One of the most consistent megatrends has been the conversion in time spent with “linear” forms of audio to “on-demand” platforms. As the nearby graph shows, when we began Share of Ear, the clear majority of time was spent with linear audio choices such as AM/FM radio and satellite radio.
