EDP Sciences a été fondée en 1920 par une prestigieuse communauté de sociétés savantes françaises cherchant à inspirer, innover et informer en partageant leurs connaissances. Les membres de cette communauté comprenaient d'éminents scientifiques comme Marie Curie, Paul Langevin et Louis de Broglie.
Marie Curie a été une pionnière dans le domaine de la radioactivité et a remporté deux prix Nobel de physique et de chimie. Paul Langevin était un physicien français qui a donné son nom à la dynamique de Langevin et à l'équation de Langevin, tandis que Louis de Broglie a gagné une renommée mondiale pour ses travaux novateurs sur la théorie quantique.
Depuis novembre 2019, EDP Sciences est détenue par Science Press, elle-même détenue majoritairement par l'Académie chinoise des sciences (CAS-Chinese Academy of Sciences). La CAS est une société savante prestigieuse et la plus grande organisation de recherche au monde. EDP Sciences a toujours été, et continue d'être, le partenaire privilégié des communautés scientifiques. EDP Sciences a mis en place un comité scientifique consultatif indépendant composé de scientifiques et personnalités. Le comité scientifique est chargé de conseiller l'entreprise dans sa stratégie et d'assurer une passerelle pérenne entre la maison d'édition et les besoins de la communauté scientifique en matière de publication. Astronomy & Astrophysics to remain Open Access in 2026 under Subscribe to Open
Détails Paris, France, 13 May 2026. The Board of Directors of Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A) and EDP Sciences are pleased to announce that A&A will remain fully open access in 2026 under the Subscribe to Open (S2O) model, following sufficient renewal support from the library community.

Open Access Status Update for Mathematics Journals in 2026
Détails Paris, France 8 May 2026. EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) confirms that Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena and ESAIM: Probability and Statistics will remain fully open access in 2026 under the Subscribe to Open (S2O) model. These two journals have reached the required level of institutional support to secure open access for the coming year.

EDP Sciences and Science China Press launch Research & Design of Nuclear Engineering
Détails A multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open access journal serving the nuclear engineering community. EDP Sciences and China Science Press have today announced the launch of a new academic research journal, Research & Design of Nuclear Engineering (RDNE). RDNE is published on behalf of China Nuclear Power Engineering and is dedicated to advancing knowledge and innovation in nuclear science, technology, and engineering.

Détails L'équipe éditoriale d'EDP Sciences, en collaboration avec l'Inserm (Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale), est heureuse d'annoncer la reconnaissance de Médecine/Sciences, qui a remporté deux prix prestigieux dans le domaine de la santé. Le SPEPS (Syndicat de la Presse et de l’Édition des Professions de Santé ) a organisé sa cérémonie annuelle des Prix Éditoriaux le 20 novembre 2025 à Paris.
