OMV Austrian integrated energy, fuels and chemicals company OMV gets €450 million EIB loan to build major green hydrogen plant in northeastern town of Bruck an der Leitha. Green hydrogen will replace fossil-based hydrogen at OMV’s Schwechat refinery, cutting CO₂ emissions by up to 150,000 tonnes per year. Largest-ever EIB financing in Austria’s energy sector, supporting Europe’s clean industrial transition through the EIB’s TechEU initiative.

Getty Images Multilateral development banks’ climate finance in low-and middle-income countries jumps 21% to $103 billion last year, according to their new annual report. MDB adaptation finance in low- and middle-income economies rose 31% to $35 billion, and mitigation finance rose 16% to $68 billion. MDBs on track to meet their 2030 climate-finance projections across all their countries of operation.

The Netherlands: European support to future-proof drinking water infrastructure in Dutch province of North Holland
EIB PWN borrows €100 million from European Investment Bank to further modernise, expand and future-proof its drinking water distribution network in the Dutch province of North Holland. The EIB financing, backed by the European Commission’s InvestEU programme, will support the implementation of PWN’s 2026–2029 investment programme. Around 750 kilometres of water pipelines will be renewed, renovated or newly installed. The network expansion is expected to enable approximately 35,000 new connections.
